Leonidas Raptakis (Democratic Party) (also known as Lou) is a member of the Rhode Island State Senate, representing District 33. He assumed office in 2013. His current term ends on January 7, 2025.
Raptakis (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Rhode Island State Senate to represent District 33. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Leonidas Raptakis earned his A.A. from the Community College of Rhode Island in 1981 and his B.A. from Rhode Island College in 1981. His professional experience includes owning/operating the Venus Pizza Restaurant.[1]

Elections for the Rhode Island State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on September 9, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 25, 2014. Incumbent Leonidas Raptakis was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Michael Madonna was unopposed in the Republican primary. Frank Hyde was removed from the ballot before the Democratic primary. Raptakis defeated Madonna in the general election.[6][7][8]

Raptakis won election to State Senate in District 33. He defeated David J. Gorman in the Democratic primary on September 11. Incumbent Glenford Shibley was unopposed in the Republican primary. Raptakis defeated Shibley in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[9][10][11]

2010
Raptakis did not run for re-election in District 33 but instead challenged incumbent Secretary State Ralph Mollis in the September 14 Democratic primary. Mollis won with 63.3 percent of the vote.[12]
