Biography
Jody Cooley was born in Augusta, Georgia. He earned a law degree from the University of Georgia in 1986. His career experience includes working as an attorney at law and registered mediator. He has been affiliated with Gainesville Kiwanis Club.[1]

2012
Cooley ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Georgia's 9th District. Cooley won the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[2] Candidates wishing to run were required to file by the signature filing deadline of May 25, 2012. The primary elections were held on July 31, 2012. Cooley ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. He was defeated by Doug Collins (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.

Cooley has been married for 25 years to Lora who is a Pre-school Special Education teacher in the Hall County School System. Cooley has two college age daughters: a Junior at Georgia Tech, a Freshman at University of Georgia.
