Horacena Tate (Democratic Party) is a member of the Georgia State Senate, representing District 38. She assumed office in 1999. Her current term ends on January 13, 2025.
Tate (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Georgia State Senate to represent District 38. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Biography
Tate was born on May 8, 1956. She earned her B.S. in education from the University of Georgia in 1977, her M.A. in educational administration from Atlanta University in 1988, and her Ed.D. in educational administration from Clark-Atlanta University in 1992. Her professional experience includes working for United Airlines and Apollo Travel Services, the Georgia Department of Labor, and as president of Tate, Marsh and Associates, Incorporated.

The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Horacena E. Tate defeated A. Reginald Crossley in the Democratic primary and was unchallenged in the general election. Branson Courtney D. Wright (I) filed to run for election but did not appear on the general election ballot.[5][6][7]

On November 4, 2008, Tate won re-election to the Georgia Senate from Georgia's 38th Senate district. Tate ran unopposed in the general election, and she received 51,474 votes.[11] Tate raised $35,022 for her campaign.[12]
