Brian Strickland (Republican Party) is a member of the Georgia State Senate, representing District 17. He assumed office on January 16, 2018. His current term ends on January 13, 2025.
Strickland (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Georgia State Senate to represent District 42. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Strickland earned his B.B.A. in economics from Valdosta State University in 2006 and his J.D. from the Florida Coastal School of Law in 2009.[1]

2018 special election
A special election for the position of Georgia State Senate District 17 was held on January 9, 2018. The filing deadline for candidates running in this election was December 8, 2017. A runoff election would have been held on February 6, 2018, if no candidate had received over 50 percent of the vote.[2]
The seat was left vacant after the resignation of Rick Jeffares (R) on December 1, 2017. Jeffares resigned from the state Senate in order to focus on his campaign for lieutenant governor.[3]

Elections for the Georgia House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014, with runoff elections taking place where necessary on July 22, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. James A. "Jim" Nichols IV was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent R. Brian Strickland was unopposed in the Republican primary. Nichols was defeated by Strickland in the general election.[8][9][10]

Strickland ran in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 111. Strickland ran against Trea Pipkin in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. Bill Blackmon ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[11][12] Strickland defeated Bill Blackmon in the general election.[13]
