Donna Howard (Democratic Party) is a member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 48. She assumed office in 2006. Her current term ends on January 14, 2025.
Howard (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives to represent District 48. She won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Donna Howard is a native of Austin, Texas. Howard earned a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in health education from the University of Texas. She has worked as a critical care nurse at Brackenridge and Seton hospitals and as a health educator at the University of Texas. Howard was the first hospital-based patient education coordinator in Austin and helped start the Seton Good Health School.
Howard is a co-founder of Advocates for Eanes Schools, and sits on the Board of the Expanding Horizons Foundation. She is a former board member of Austin Area Interreligious Ministries, Common Cause Texas, the Texas Freedom Network, and the Texas Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Howard also formerly served as president of the Texas Nurses' Association, district 5. As of 2023, Howard served as a board member of the Expanding Horizons Foundation.[1]
Howard was a candidate for the Texas State Board of Education in 2000 and 2002, and served on the Eanes Independent School District Board from 1996 to 1999.[2]

Elections for all 150 seats in the Texas House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on March 4, 2014. Those candidates who did not receive 50 percent or more of the vote in their party primary on March 4 faced an additional May 27 primary runoff. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in these elections was December 9, 2013. Incumbent Donna Howard was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Howard defeated Ben Easton (L) in the general election.[7][8][9]

Howard won re-election in the 2012 election for Texas House of Representatives, District 48. Howard ran unopposed in the May 29 primary election and won re-election in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[10]

Howard won re-election in District 48. She was unopposed in the March 2 Democratic primary and defeated Republican Dan Neil and Libertarian Ben Easton in the November 2 general election.[10]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Howard won re-election to the Texas House of Representatives from Texas' 48th District, defeating Pamela Waggoner (R) and Ben Easton (L). Howard received 39,748 votes in the election while Waggoner received 31,028 votes, and Easton received 3,174 votes.[10] Howard raised $283,482 for her campaign; Waggoner raised $42,610.[11]
