Don Bates, Jr. was a Republican candidate for Indiana State Treasurer in the 2014 election.[1]

Bates sought election to public office in 2012, as a Republican candidate for U.S. House representing the 6th Congressional District of Indiana. He lost in the May 8 Republican primary.[2]

Biography

Bates attended Bethel Holiness Christian School in Columbus, Indiana for high school and went on to study at The Bible Missionary Institute located in Rock Island, Illinois.[3]

Bates has run his own business as a financial advisor in Richmond, Indiana over the past 15 years.[3]

Bates ran for election to the office of Indiana Treasurer in 2014.[4][1] He sought the Republican nomination at the May 6, 2014 primary convention. The general election took place on November 4, 2014.

2012

Bates ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Indiana's 6th District. Bates and four other candidates lost to Luke Messer in the May 8 Republican primary.[2]

Bates was endorsed by Hancock County Council members, Dr. Brian Kirkwood and John Jessup.[5] Bates also received endorsement from the Indiana Right to Life PAC on March 29, 2012.[6]

Bates was also endorsed by State Senator Greg Walker on February 22, 2012,[7] Connersville, Indiana Mayor Leonard Urban,[8] Greg Fettig with America ReFocused (dead link) and[9] Randolph County Sheriff Ken Hendrickson on April 12, 2012.[10]
