Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 12 servings

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ cup shortening (such as Crisco®)

  • 1 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.

  2. Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture has only pea-sized lumps. Add milk; mix until dry mixture is absorbed. Drop dough by heaping spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes
