Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 24 servings

  • 4 cups whole wheat flour

  • 2 tablespoons baking powder

  • ¼ cup white sugar

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 ½ cups applesauce

  • ¾ cup peanut oil

  • ¼ cup water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.

  2. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl. Stir applesauce, peanut oil, and water into flour mixture until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Drop golf ball-sized spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven until biscuits are browned, 10 to 12 minutes.
