Turn Me Loose is the fourth studio album by American R&B and jazz singer-songwriter Ledisi; it was released on August 18, 2009, by Verve Records. It was recorded after Ledisi's experience with the writer's block, which she able to overcome it, after finding inspiration by listening on the Buddy Miles's album Them Changes (1970). In contrast to her previous work with jazz and soul influences, the album features a prominent funk sound.
The album debuted at number 14 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 27,000 copies in the first week. Upon its release, it received generally positive reviews from music critics, based on an aggregate score of 72/100 from Metacritic.Turn Me Loose was nominated for two 2010 Grammy Awards including Best R&B Album & Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for "Goin' Thru Changes".
Background
Speaking in April 2010 to noted UK R&B writer Pete Lewis - Deputy Editor of the award-winning Blues & Soul - Ledisi explained how the title of the album reflected its musical diversity: "The title 'Turn Me Loose' is basically me saying 'I don't wanna be boxed in! Let me be myself as a performer and singer, because I do EVERYTHING! Not just one particular style!'."
"Turn Me Loose" is a hit song recorded by the Canadian rock band Loverboy. It was released on their eponymous debut album in 1980, and as a single in 1981. With a strong rock synthesizer start to the song, followed by a steady build on the guitars, it peaked at #7 on the RPM singles chart in 1981 and #6 on the BillboardTop Tracks chart in the US.
The song entered and peaked at #4 on Swedish Trackslistan on 24 February 2007 and charted for six weeks. The song peaked at #1 on the Swedish singles chart on 22 February 2007.
"Tokyo" is a single by The Adicts, released under the name ADX, produced by the band with ex-Vapors frontman David Fenton. It was the first of two singles by the band released on Sire Records. A remixed version of the song later appeared on the band's next album Smart Alex.

“Hailing from Cumbria, a remote northern county of England, It Bites plays energetic, carefully produced (by Alan Shacklock) chart-pop that adds considerable offbeat spunk to the easy-listening sounds of peppy outfits like Haircut One Hundred. The Big Lad in the Windmill has the merry attitude (if not the extraordinary talent) of early 10cc: unexpected styles and noises abound in a shiny rush of giddy melodicism. While hardly groundbreaking, this provincial quartet is agreeably paranormal.” - trouser press
TURN ME LOOSE
OH BABY I CAN SEE, WHAT YOU’RE DOING TO ME,
IT CAME AS NO SURPRISE TO SEE YOU BOTH PASS BY
I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHEN HE ANSWERED THE PHONE,
YOU SAID IT’S YOUR BROTHER BUT LOVERS YOU TURNED OUT TO BE,
OH CAN’T YOU SEE
YOU GOTTA TURN ME LOOSE BEEN KEEPING ME HANGING ON, TOO LONG
YOU GOTTA TURN ME LOOSE BEEN KEEPING ME HANGING ON.
AND NOW AS TIME GOES BY AND I ASK MYSELF WHY,
YOU LEFT YOUR PRESENCE BEHIND ’CAUSE YOU’RE STILL ON MY MIND,
THE THOUGHT OF YOU IN ANOTHER MAN’S ARMS,
HURTS ME DEEP INSIDE TO REALISE IT WAS MEANT TO BE,
OH CAN’T YOU SEE
YOU GOTTA TURN ME LOOSE BEEN KEEPING ME HANGING ON, TOO LONG,
YOU GOTTA TURN ME LOOSE BEEN KEEPING ME HANGING ON.
I GUESS YOU JUST DON’T WANT TO SEE ME
YOU GOTTA TURN ME LOOSE BEEN KEEPING ME HANGING ON, TOO LONG

Chorus: You better turn me loose Turn me loose you know that I can't stay You better turn me loose Well turn me loose you know I'll make it anyway Well why don't you tell me Just what's goin' on Both of us lyin' here And we both know it's wrong So why don't you let me Why don't you leave it alone And don't keep hangin' on to a love that's dead and gone Chorus Well you can't see it's over That's really a shame Well our love didn't make it No one's to blame So why don't we say goodbye Why don't we just say we're through And I'll be on my way And I'll get by without you Chorus X 2 Turn me loose you know I'll make it anyway
