"Überlin" is a song by American alternative rock band R.E.M.. It was released as the second single from their fifteenth and final studio album Collapse into Now on January 25, 2011.
Berlin is a 2009 documentary series co-developed by the BBC and the Open University. Written and presented by Matt Frei, the series has three 60-minute episodes, each dealing with a different aspect of the history of Germany's capital city.
Episodes
Episode 1 – "Dangerous Ideas"
Using the life and posthumous legacy of Frederick the Great as its central theme, this episode covers some of the most notable political, social and cultural movements to emerge within Berlin over the past two centuries.
Episode 2 – "Ruined Visions"
From the advent of the former Berliner Stadtschloss to the Palast der Republik which for a time took its place, from the creation of the Bauakademie to that of the Olympic Stadium, and from the rise of the Fernsehturm to the rejuvenation of the Reichstag, this episode looks at the varied periods of construction, destruction and renewal seen in the architecture of the city of Berlin.
Episode 3 – "Ich bin ein Berliner"
Turning to look at the legacy which history has placed upon the people of Berlin – and that which Berliners themselves have offered in turn – this episode charts the tumultuous eras which the city has endured, for good or ill, through the course of the 19th and 20th centuries.

BERLIN Sex (I'm A...) Extended Remix
This track forever changed my perception of popular music and how graphic it could get! It was yet another loss of innocence in that seminal year of 1983 where I set myself adrift of all i knew and needed to get away from, but pretty unprepared for the big wide world. My naivete was met at virtually every corner and by the end of that year, I was indelibly altered, and not necessarily for the better - but that is the rite of passage that all teens go through.
'Sex (I'm A...)' was quite shocking but a very popular dance track in the middle of 1983. Berlin, long before Teri Nunn pleaded to 'Take My Breath Away' in 'Top Gun' and its soundtrack in 1986, came this 1982 recorded song from the band's sophomore LP 'Pleasure Victim'. I think it was influenced by Donna Summer's two groundbreakin...

I think it was influenced by Donna Summer's two groundbreaking disco hits 'Love To Love You Baby' and 'I Feel Love'. Those two iconic tracks were produced by Giorgio Moroder and interestingly Berlin's Oscar winning song from that Tom Cruise movie was co-written and Produced by the one and same Mr Moroder!
Back to 'Sex (I'm A....)' and it wasn't just the use of the words 'slut' and 'bitch' but in this over 8 minute extravaganza, the use of moaning, groaning and other graphic sexual language made it quite the talking point back in the day. It was banned from many radio stations, but that didn't stop it selling copies and it managed to make its way to #62 on the Billboard Pop chart in the first quarter of 1983. Here in Australia, it entered the Top 100 in August of that year; spending one solitary week there - at #89! I wasn't one of the few people that bought it, but months later I did buy the 12 inch record second hand, which housed this amazing piece of synth pop, fused with new wave rock and dance beats. It was quite the revolution and it still sounds so edgy 40 years on. Canada really loved it (#4) and so too did New Zealand and Finland (Top 20 in both regions). It did make two other Billboard charts in America - Dance/Club and Mainstream Rock - reaching Top 10 in both and illustrative of the cross over sounds that Berlin crafted right through their career.
Berlin's next two albums 'Love Life' and 'Count Three & Pray' would see them break through mainstream with hits like 'No More Words', 'Dancing in Berlin' and the aforementioned 'Take My Breath Away'.
This clip needed a lot of editing as you can see! I took a TV performance and re-edited it to contain this 8 + minute marathon of sexy talk! It certainly is a snapshot in time of pop culture back in those heady years in between disco and synth pop excesses. My favourite line? The last one. Hang in there for it!

If you want to support this channel, see more uploads and earn some crypto via a revolutionary new mobile app which uses no battery life or resources, join my Pi mining circle via https://minepi.com/kerempooh. Alternatively download Pi Network app in the store and use "kerempooh" as invite (It is invitation only).
Pi is a new crypto currency which promises to be completely democratic and is specifically designed to avoid pooling coins in the hands of a few super-rich early adopters (87% of all bitcoin is owned by just 1% of its users). Pi Network accomplishes this by literally giving away free Pi coins at this stage of its development and more than 8 millions of users are already earning Pi by simply opening the app once a day and pressing a single button. This giveaway is scheduled to end at an unspecified date so don't miss out!
At the moment Pi is worth exactly $0.00 but once it hits the market and more and more apps are built on it (yes, there are Pi-based apps already) who knows where it may go? Maybe 0, maybe it reaches bitcoin, who knows? But it costs you nothing to try, and you risk nothing (except 2 button presses a day - one to open the app and the second one to press "mine") and the app is deemed completely safe by official app stores and millions of users. So, don't delay, start today and remember to use "kerempooh" as invite!
Also, if you aren't already doing so, consider switching to the wonderful Brave browser which is the only browser I ever use. Among its other wonderful features (such as optional earning of valid ether-based crypto by simply clicking on unobtrusive ads, as well as super tight anti pop-up and privacy protections) is the ability to play youtube videos on your phone even when minimized! If you enjoy this channel, or music on youtube in general, you understand how brilliant this is!
Start using Brave today, hopefully via this link which will go a long way in supporting this channel.
