"Budapest" is a song by British singer-songwriter George Ezra, from his debut studio album, Wanted on Voyage (2014). It was released as the album's second single on 13 December 2013 in Italy, and on 13 June 2014 in the United Kingdom. The song was co-written by Ezra with Joel Pott and produced by Cam Blackwood.
The single was released on Columbia Records, and distributed by Sony Music, and peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart. "Budapest" has also been a major hit for Ezra in Austria and New Zealand, topping the charts in both countries, while reaching the top ten in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland. It was the 13th-best-selling single of 2014 in the UK. The song was released in the U.S. in 2015 and has peaked at number 32.
Background
Ezra told The Daily Telegraph that "Budapest" was "[his] first attempt to write a love song, and it uses the first three guitar chords [he] ever learned. There's a lot to be said for that simplicity." Ezra has also insisted that, despite its title, the lyrics of "Budapest" do not have anything to do with the city in Hungary and that he had never even been there before. He said, "I was in Malmö in Sweden and the Eurovision Song Contest was being held in Malmö on that night, and I didn't have a clue about it but everyone there seemed to be really excited about it and having parties. But I didn't know you couldn't buy alcohol after 10 o'clock at night. So I ended up buying a bottle of like, rum, or something like that from a guy in a park so I could have something to drink at this party. Anyway, I was meant to be getting a train to Budapest the next day, and I never got it because I was too hungover and didn't fancy it. So I wrote the song about being miles from Budapest."
Crest of a Knave is the sixteenth studio album by British rock band Jethro Tull, released in 1987. The album was recorded after a hiatus of three years occasioned by a throat infection of vocalist Ian Anderson. After the unsuccessful Under Wraps, the band returned to a more heavy blended electric with acoustic style of sound, one of the top characteristics of Jethro Tull. The album was their most successful since the 70's, and the band enjoyed a resurgence on radio broadcasts, appearances in MTV specials, and recording music videos. The album was supported by "The Not Quite the World, More the Here and There Tour".
Production
Even though Doane Perry had been a member of Jethro Tull since 1984, several tracks still featured drum machine instead of a live drummer. Keyboardist Peter-John Vettese was too absent and it was Ian Anderson who contributed the synth programming. The album sleeve only lists Ian Anderson, Martin Barre and Dave Pegg as official band members. Barre remembers of this production as being "the album where a lot of things were of my invention. There are still chunks of the music where lan very much knew what he wanted, but I think my input was far greater on that album than on any other".
"Überlin" is a song by American alternative rock band R.E.M.. It was released as the second single from their fifteenth and final studio album Collapse into Now on January 25, 2011.
Berlin is a 2009 documentary series co-developed by the BBC and the Open University. Written and presented by Matt Frei, the series has three 60-minute episodes, each dealing with a different aspect of the history of Germany's capital city.
Episodes
Episode 1 – "Dangerous Ideas"
Using the life and posthumous legacy of Frederick the Great as its central theme, this episode covers some of the most notable political, social and cultural movements to emerge within Berlin over the past two centuries.
Episode 2 – "Ruined Visions"
From the advent of the former Berliner Stadtschloss to the Palast der Republik which for a time took its place, from the creation of the Bauakademie to that of the Olympic Stadium, and from the rise of the Fernsehturm to the rejuvenation of the Reichstag, this episode looks at the varied periods of construction, destruction and renewal seen in the architecture of the city of Berlin.
Episode 3 – "Ich bin ein Berliner"
Turning to look at the legacy which history has placed upon the people of Berlin – and that which Berliners themselves have offered in turn – this episode charts the tumultuous eras which the city has endured, for good or ill, through the course of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Even though the Wall has since been dismantled, the sculpture was bought by the city from Mrs. Matschinsky-Denninghoff to commemorate the unfortunate chapter in German history.
History
Berlin was one of eight sculptures designed during "Skulpturenboulevard Kurfürstendamm" (Boulevard of Sculptures: Kurfürstendamm), an event commissioned by the city of West Berlin to celebrate Berlin's 750th anniversary in 1987. Of the eight sculptures unveiled, three were allowed to remain past the anniversary year (Berlin, Pyramide, and Cadillacs in Form der nackten Maja); the city and Deutsche Bank acquired Berlin after its original lease had expired.

Sleeping train trip Berlin (Germany) to Budapest (Hungary)
I tested the EN Metropol 40457 from MÁV - Hungarian Railways. The train started in Berlin Central Station and ended in Budapest Nyugati. I booked a sleeper compartment to stay overnight.
The sleeping train of the Hungarian railway company connects Berlin with Budapest almost every day. The travel times are comfortable, departure from Berlin is around 7 p.m. and arrival in Budapest shortly after 8 a.m. The return trip from Budapest to Berlin also has nice travel times.
I booked a single room for the trip. In addition to the sleeping place, there is also a couchette and seating train place on the route.
We are greeted with sparkling wine, something sweet and water. The next morning you get a small breakfast.

Travel Diaries | working in berlin, quick trip to budapest
Hello friends,
This is the second week of my travel abroad adventures! Not gonna lie, I spent most of my time in Berlin working and therefore didn't get to see as much of the city as I wanted to. I definitely need to make my way back one day! I also spent a couple of days in Budapest which is a city that I've always wanted to visit because I love action films and I feel like so many of them are filmed there 😂 I know that these travel vlogs are a little different from the content that I usually post. However, I do think that they depict a very special period of time in my 20s where I can just be a bit more carefree and roam the world. As always, I hope you enjoy!
xx,
Jules

Full Wizzair flight from Budapest (BUD) to Berlin (BER) | TRIP REPORT - A321 - exit seat
SLEEPER TRAIN in Europe - is it REALLY worth it? BUDAPEST to BERLIN (inc Prices!)
We caught the overnight sleeper train from Budapest to Berlin! The entire journey took approximately 15 hours and was quite the experience. We were quite impressed with how comfortable the beds and pillows are and the air con worked like a dream! Unfortunately we were kicked off the train early and had to navigate our way to our hotel via a different and unexpected route. We weren't given any reason as to why we had to disembark early, which was a little confusing and bizarre.
There were different types of tickets you could purchase for this journey, we opted for the private 2-berth sleeper carriage and paid $140AUD per person. The ticket agent we purchased though is "Trainline".

As always, I hope you enjoy!
xx,
Jules

Our route was Amsterdam, Berlin, Budapest, Prague and Munich over four and a half weeks. We’d planned on staying in Munich for longer, but went back to Budapest because it was so much fun.
