The remaining five campers' challenge is to run away from five attack dogs owned by a special guest. Two campers test each others' patience, two more use unconventional methods to escape, and another literally holds on to victory. The winner tries to get two campers to vote off a threat, but since they had flipped a coin on who they would vote, one of them was benched, leaving his best friend devastated.
Plot[]
The episode starts with Wayne and Raj at the dock. Wayne tells Raj he feels bad about voting Damien off in the previous episode, and Raj agrees with him. They tell each other that things won’t be the same without Damien screaming them to sleep, telling them to not floss with the waistband of their underwear, to not blow snot rockets at the dinner table, or to not be a “poo pusher”, and instead just “let it happen.”
Wayne |
“ | [Wayne & Raj]: We miss you, Damien! | ” | Raj |
Priya goes to her cabin and is about to open the door when she hears a crunch of a twig. She looks behind her and sees Caleb hiding behind a tree and spying, not surprised but definitely angered by his presence.
Priya |
“ | Caleb. That traitor! Came to grovel, no doubt. Probably thinks he can pec dance his way back into my heart! No chance! | ” |
As Caleb hides behind the tree, Priya appears behind him and shouts his name, shocking him. He awkwardly lies saying he was just going for a hike. Priya found it suspicious to hike through poison ivy and bear poop, which is what Caleb would’ve been doing if he was actually hiking. Caleb tells her that he wasn’t waiting to talk to her, and so Priya tells him to go. Caleb finally admits he’s not hiking, and he just wants to talk about last night’s campfire ceremony. Priya asks if he means when she found out that he was partnered with Julia the whole time. Caleb defends himself by saying he’s not partnered with Julia, or at least not the whole time, and that she had just offered him immunity out of nowhere. Priya asks why, sarcastically asking if he pretended to like Julia too by giving her the “Old Flirty McMuscles”. Caleb was confused what she meant by that, to which she angrily responded saying insults don’t come naturally to her as she stormed off. Caleb told her to wait as he chased after her, explaining that he was going to be voted off and that he had to take the immunity when it was offered. Priya said she understood that Caleb would do whatever it took to win, but it turns out that was not why he took it. Priya questioned what other reason he could have, but she was not prepared to find out Caleb did it to spend more time with her. Priya sighed and agreed to give their alliance–just the alliance another shot. Priya attempted to threaten Caleb if he had ever crossed her again, but she couldn’t think of anything, since threatening people wasn’t something that came naturally to her either. As she stormed off once more, Chris told the campers to report to the field.
Chris said good morning to the campers before asking them to answer a quick survey before the challenge: “By a show of hands, who here likes puppies?” Everyone raised their hands as the Hockey Bros seemed extra excited as they cheered. Raj smiled and said they love puppies while his eyes twinkled. Wayne believed a puppy was like a dog and another dog had a baby, which Chef blankly responded by saying a puppy was exactly like that. Since the final 5 all liked (or loved) puppies, Chris told them that they would love the next challenge: “Man’s Best Frenemy.” He introduced them to a special guest for the challenge, a Marine K-9 Unit Leader, who was Master Sergeant Valentina MacArthur. She put her arms to her sides before asking if the kids would like to meet some doggies. Wayne and Raj cheered again as Raj said they would get licked so much. MacArthur said she would introduce them to her “babies” as loud, angry barking came out from the trees behind them, scaring the gopher in the dogs’ way, Julia, Caleb, and Priya as the dogs finally arrived. MacArthur introduced them to the dogs who were named “Edward Scissormouth, Beartrap, Chainsaw, Bloodhunter, and Booger.” Seeing Booger was a tiny, bug-eyed puppy, likely a chihuahua, Chris assumed she was subbing in for an actual attack dog. He said that if the real attack dog was in prison for something like mauling a tiger, he would send Chef to break it out. MacArthur told him that Booger was right where she belongs and to trust her on that, but Chris was still uncertain of that.
Julia |
“ | I used to have a little purse dog! It got more likes than me, so I had to get rid of it. | ” |
Chef explained that the campers would get two minutes to run before the hounds would hunt them down. Priya asked what would happen next as Edward Scissormouth barked, scaring the Hockey Bros. Chris told them Scissormouth said “Chomp, chomp, draggy, draggy.” Since the campers would probably have no idea what that meant, Chef said they would drag them back to the circle they were currently standing on. Caleb asked if the dogs all had their rabies shots, but MacArthur said there was no need for shots since rabies were too scared to go near those dogs. Chef continued by saying that by using their smelly socks, the monsters–MacArthur’s “sweet babies”–would memorize their individual scents so they would have the same dog chasing only them for the entire game. Chris said it was like each of them would get their own puppy, causing Raj to ask him to stop calling them that. A TV pops out of a bush to demonstrate the rules as Chris explains. If the campers are dragged back three times, then they are out of the game, and the last one standing wins immunity. He asks if there’s any questions and everyone raises their hands, but he says it was clearly rhetorical, and he will not be answering any questions. Chef blows an air horn to begin their two-minute leave as everyone runs for their lives. After about ten seconds, Chris questions if it’s been two minutes already. Chef tells him no as Chris tells MacArthur to release the hounds, which she does.
Wayne and Raj run fast as the hounds start to catch up to them. Wayne gets an idea and stops to tell Raj that the dogs know them from smelling their socks. Raj agrees as they say at the same time, they only need to eat their socks to get rid of the dogs.
Wayne |
“ | [Wayne & Raj]: Jinx! | ” | Raj |
The two boys literally eat their socks as Wayne says great minds think alike. The dogs run, but they look with confusion at the two boys. Raj believes it’s funny the dogs have no idea who they are, but Wayne ends up barfing his sock up again as the dogs growl at them. Wayne says it’s his bad before the dogs attack them.
Wayne |
“ | [Wayne]: This is the third time we’ve eaten our socks for nothing! [Raj]: [looks at Wayne sadly] |
” | Raj |
Julia runs into a cabin and shuts the door, leaning against it with a sigh of relief.
Julia |
“ | Okay so dogs can't open doors, right? Then why run around like the rest of these dorks when I can just chill on my bunk and answer DMs? | ” |
Julia searches for her phone in her pockets, but can’t seem to find it. She turns around to see the door creaking open and being greeted by Beartrap, who crushes her phone with his teeth as she screams.
Priya and Caleb run through the woods from a dog as they eventually make it to the edge of a cliff, almost falling due to momentum. Priya tells Caleb to save himself since she believes the dog is only after her. Caleb says he won’t leave her, but Priya says there’s nowhere for her to go. Caleb apologizes and says there is as he tackles Priya off the cliff while Edward Scissormouth, the dog that was chasing Priya, stares down at them in shock. When they hit the water, Priya is upset about Caleb tackling her off the cliff, believing their re-alliance is off to a bad start as she swims away. Caleb swims after her and says he went off the cliff too, asking how she’s mad if he saved her from the dog. Priya says it’s fair, but her face turns to one of worry as she says Caleb might want to run. He grows worried too and asks why, spotting Booger on a log. He says she’s not so bad, and that she’s kind of cute, “like a sweet, bug-eyed baby.” Booger looks straight at them and barks crazily before grabbing Caleb’s necklace in her jaws and pulling him into the water. He is pulled in a circle while asking Priya to help before being dragged under. After a bit, he resurfaces and grabs onto a buoy, saying he thinks “it’s” gone. However, Booger was in fact not gone, as she proceeds to drag him under again.
Priya |
“ | I could’ve done something, but I really wanted to see what that little monster could do! | ” |
After only 15 minutes, the dogs had brought back Julia by her bracelets and the Hockey Bros, who both had their jerseys over their heads. MacArthur says she loves it when they struggle as Chris sees he had underestimated Booger, who was dragging along Caleb with her. Chris says they each earned a red X and asks if they would like another head start. Raj pulls his jersey back down and angrily tells him that the last head start they got was not two minutes. Chris says he swears this time it will be two minutes as Raj, Wayne and Julia run for it. MacArthur says she’s a jerk with a knack for cruelty herself, so she guesses his fingers were crossed, which they were. MacArthur sends the dogs out to attack the campers again.
Julia runs down the dock as Beartrap chases her. She says all she has to do is get to the water as she eventually makes it and jumps in, saying “Later, fleabag!” She turns and sees the dog in the water with her, staring her down as she screams.
Julia |
“ | [Julia]: Right, dogs can swim. [Beartrap]: [growls at her while holding her bracelet] |
” |
Wayne and Raj run for a bit before Wayne recommends they hide in a tree since the dogs can’t follow them up there. Raj asks how he’s so smart, to which Wayne responds that in school he sometimes gets so bored that he actually decides to listen. They try to jump to grab the branch of the tree, but it’s too high for them to reach. The dogs were getting close, so Raj offered to boost Wayne up first, then for the latter to pull him up. Wayne stood on Raj’s back, still struggling to reach the branch. After a bit of struggling, Raj managed to push Wayne up a little more, allowing him to grab the branch and pull himself up. He told Raj to come, but the latter believed there was no time for him to get up too. Wayne looked around and spotted a shed, telling Raj to run and hide quickly. Raj listened and ran as Bloodhunter chased him, while Chainsaw stopped at the tree and barked at Wayne. He laughed at the dog, saying that it would never get up there with him since it was “not a giraffe.” After a bit of barking, the dog began chomping at the tree, slowly cutting it down with his jaws.
The hosts and the special guest watched everything happen through a TV as MacArthur pointed out that she didn’t name the dog “Chainsaw” for nothing. Chef believed what was currently happening was horrifying, but Chris just laughed and said the same thing was his version of Christmas.
Wayne was growing worried as the dog got closer and closer to chopping down the tree, but he looked and saw a second branch leading to a rock and seemingly became slightly less terrified.
Raj ran into the shed and slammed the door as Bloodhunter scratched from outside. Raj leaned against the door and told himself to think out loud, thinking about how eating his socks didn’t work, but then he thought of taking off all of his clothes.
Wayne made it to the second branch and jumped to the rock before running away, which made Chris say, “Look at the big brain on Wayne!” After a bit, the dog looked up and realized Wayne was gone, causing it to look around and whine.
Raj looked at a mannequin he had dressed in his clothes and said he was “Lookin’ good, feelin’ gorgeous” while wearing only his boxers. He heard the dog bang on the door from outside as he jumped through the window right before Bloodhunter broke in and started attacking the mannequin.
Julia was dragged back to the start as Chris jokingly congratulated her for being in the lead for last place. He then noticed Caleb being dragged back, saying there was now a tie. The two get up as Julia tells Caleb that they need to step up their game for their alliance to have a shot. Caleb corrects her by saying they have an agreement, not an alliance. Julia says he can call it whatever he wants, but that his vote still belongs to her. Chris tells the two that Priya has not been caught yet, so she’s likely to win immunity, angering Julia and relieving Caleb. Chris offers them another head start as they run for it. MacArthur asks Chris if he would like to sic the dogs on them, and he calls it sweet as he sends Bear Trap and Booger after the two.
Wayne runs to the shed and tells Raj that it’s all clear so they can run, but he goes to see Bloodhunter with a piece of Raj’s jersey in his mouth as there are many more pieces of the jersey and the mannequin all over the floor. Seeing this, Wayne screams in terror.
Wayne |
“ | The horrors I’ve seen, bro! That maniac dog, tearing my buddy limb from limb, [sobbing voice] plastic guts everywhere! | ” |
Bloodhunter runs away with Raj’s shorts in his mouth as Wayne picks up the arm of the mannequin, mistaking it for Raj. He says there’s no pulse and no breathing, being shocked that there is no heart or lungs. He cries wondering how he’ll put Raj back together while crying his name.
Chef holds up Raj’s shorts and says that somewhere in the woods there is a boy, pant-less and afraid. MacArthur takes the shorts and tells Bloodhunter to put the boy back in the pants, handing the dog the shorts. Chris asks if it’s not the first time her “puppies” have pantsed a civilian, and it turns out that it wasn’t even the first time that day.
As Wayne cries while holding “Raj’s” arm close, Raj pokes his head out of the bush upon hearing him. Wayne cries that they didn’t even get to the cup finals as Raj climbs through the window and says that if they did, it would’ve been sick. Wayne gets up and stops crying, looking at the arm and at Raj in confusion at how there’s two “Rajies.” Raj tells him that he made a fake as Wayne scratches his head while using the mannequin arm, causing Raj to flatly say he’s the real one. This is a relief to Wayne as he high-fives Raj while complimenting his fake-out. They hear growling behind them as they see Bloodhunter and Chainsaw, remembering that they were meant to be hiding from dogs as they are attacked again.
Julia runs before smelling something gross, which turns out to be a giant dumpster in front of her.
Julia |
“ | Huh, these dogs are tracking us by scent, so to throw them off, you need something that smells really strong. | ” |
She holds her nose as she jumps into the dumpster, believing it’s her only shot at winning immunity. MacArthur watches disgustedly, believing the smell of the dumpster will never come out.
Wayne and Raj are dragged back, but Chris asks Raj where his pants are, since Total Drama is a family show. MacArthur calls Bloodhunter’s name as he spits out Raj’s missing shorts. Another X is added to the Hockey Bros as Chris says one more strike and they are out. They get up and look at him with an angry expression, saying that just because they play hockey doesn’t mean they don’t know how “doggy baseball” works. Chris says then they know what comes next, darkly telling them to run as they do while screaming.
Julia eventually pokes her head out of the dumpster and sees Beartrap barking at her, but after smelling the dumpster, he runs away while whining.
Julia |
“ | [gags] It worked. Ugh! Oh, I smell worse than this outhouse! But, it worked, and now, I make sure Priya gets benched. [pulls out a bucket] A bucket filled with baking grease should help. | ” |
Priya looks down at Edward Scissormouth looking for her, sighing in relief when he can’t seem to find her. Julia pops out of the chimney and pours baking grease on her before hiding. This shocks her as she falls off the roof while Chris says she’s just been served up like a glazed ham, which makes MacArthur add on that “she’s what’s for dinner.” Priya looks up to see the dog staring down at her before smelling her and attacking her.
Julia |
“ | [holding the bucket] Not my first baking grease rodeo! | ” |
Edward Scissormouth licks Priya as she is finally given her first strike. Since the dog is licking Priya, Chris jokingly says the dog must love her, but MacArthur corrects him by saying he loves bacon and is five seconds away from eating her. Priya hears this and runs as Chris snaps to send the dog after her again.
Caleb relaxes in a canoe while wearing a helmet and lifejacket, feeling calm as he floats along the water.
Caleb |
“ | Booger may be freakishly strong, but those little legs? No way she’s out-swimming a canoe. | ” |
Caleb hears a motor and looks up to see Booger, who is driving a jet ski towards him. He yells no as he paddles away right before she crashes into him and drags him back by his necklace.
Caleb |
“ | If I wasn’t so terrified, I’d be impressed. | ” |
As they are chased by the two dogs looking for them, the Hockey Bros hide inside of a cabin. Priya hopes they weren’t being chased by dogs, and Raj says they weren’t, asking why she asked. A penguin chew toy is thrown into the room as Bloodhunter and Chainsaw burst in and attack the tree while Julia stands outside.
Priya |
“ | A chew toy?! Where did that even come from?! | ” |
Julia |
“ | Mm, I love same day delivery. | ” |
Wayne and Raj receive their final X after being dragged back by the dogs, meaning they are out of the challenge. They groan hearing the news as Booger drags Caleb back, eliminating him too.
Caleb |
“ | I've got skills! Booger just played the better game today. | ” |
Priya was dragged back while the three eliminated contestants looked at her sadly while she received another red X. Since it was now down to Julia and Priya, the latter proudly shouted that she's got it, calling Caleb her "alliance... mates."
Priya |
“ | Why can't I sound cool? | ” |
She yelled out that Caleb could count on her while she ran from Edward Scissormouth. Hearing this, Caleb responds with an awkward smile.
Caleb |
“ | I mean... I'm in the clear either way! But I wasn't gonna say it. | ” |
Julia sneaks into a cave and finds the raptor she had insulted last season, saying it was good that it was still here. She asked if the raptor wanted to be friends as it got up and stared at her blankly. She said all the raptor had to do was let her hide behind it and scare away a dog. The raptor roared at her as Beartrap appeared behind her and growled at her. The two dinosaurs attacked her as she yelled for them to let her go.
Julia was dragged back by Beartrap as Chris announced it was all over. Just then, Edward Scissormouth dragged back Priya. She was being bought back quickly, but possibly not fast enough to get to the circle before Julia, so it'd be a close one. Julia shouted out that it would absolutely not be a "close one."
Julia |
“ | I have the power of fake nails! | ” |
Julia clawed into the ground and slowed Beartrap down, making Priya reach the circle before her. Julia cheers and dances after Chris announces she won immunity while Priya closes her eyes sadly.
Julia |
“ | Now that I have immunity, I need to get the Hockey Bros to vote for Priya. That girl is gonna be gonzo! | ” |
As the three sit in the cafeteria, Julia asks what the Hockey Bros are thinking for the vote as she throws Priya's name into the mix. Wayne says they don't know as Raj agrees, saying the vote's been hard. Julia agrees with them by saying it has been super hard, but that Priya was the previous season's winner. Raj says that the vote was hard, but then they let the moose decide. Julia was confused by this, questioning what they meant by a moose.
Wayne |
“ | [Wayne]: Queen is for Priya, moose is for Caleb! [tosses a coin] [Raj]: [coin falls in the toilet as he and Wayne stare at each other] |
” | Raj |
Raj |
“ | [Raj]: [head in the toilet as Wayne holds him] It's moose! Pull me up! [Wayne]: What? I can't hear you! [Raj] Moose!! Pull me up!! [Wayne] [laughs] What? |
” | Wayne |
After telling the story, Raj tells Julia that's how the moose chose Caleb. Julia said that she guesses there's no arguing with "the moose," saying she'd see them at the campfire as she walks away.
Julia |
“ | That didn't go quite as planned, but I can still make this work! | ” |
Caleb sat on a log sadly as Priya walked up to him, saying it felt terrible but asking if they should vote off Wayne or Raj. Caleb sighed as he said he didn't know and that he would need to ask Julia. Priya was extremely upset that Caleb had let Julia tell him who to vote for, but Caleb said he didn't, and that they just had an agreement that, in exchange for immunity, she would tell him who to vote for, realizing the answer was yes.
Priya |
“ | What is happening? I want to trust him, but every time I turn around, he's made another deal with Julia! | ” |
She angrily tells Caleb that he never should've agreed to the deal, and that he's now Julia's puppet. She says bye to Caleb, saying she would vote whoever she wanted: maybe Wayne, Raj, or even him.
Caleb |
“ | For the record, I agreed to it because I made Julia promise we'd never vote off Priya. | ” |
As Priya watched the sunset, Julia asked if she wanted one last look before she eliminated her lover. Priya told Julia to leave her alone, but the latter told Priya to hear her out, saying that Wayne and Raj had consulted "their moose." Priya questioned what that meant, but Julia told her not to ask, saying the point was they were voting off Caleb, and that Priya would either vote with her and Caleb or that he would go home, and that she bets Priya doesn't want that.
Priya |
“ | [sits in silence, thinking] | ” |
At the elimination ceremony, Chris makes a joke saying they all look "dog tired" as Julia groans. Chris tells Chef that he doesn't think the campers got the joke, but Chef says they all got it. Julia was called out for the fact that she started the day with no friends, and somehow ended the say with even less, but she doesn't care since she won immunity today. Chef tells Raj that he let his BFF think he was torn apart by a dog and running around in his underwear, which made Wayne say that he looked like a superhero. And finally, Caleb was at risk for pushing Priya off a cliff, to which Caleb said it was because he cared about her. In response, Chef said that Caleb had the "wooing skills of a dumpster fire."
The first marshmallow went to Julia since she had immunity. Priya got the second one, and Wayne got the third. Chris questions if Raj will skate through, or if Caleb will muscle out the competition. Chris gives the last marshmallow to Caleb, who gets up and seems shocked Priya saved him. She said that he could've told her it was all coming down to her vote, but he would rather go home than cause her another second of heartache. Caleb and Priya kiss as Chris announces Raj has been benched and it's time for the Dock of Shame.
Raj walks the Dock of Shame while Wayne follows behind, slumped over. Chris asks if Raj has any last words, and he does. First, he gives a shout out to all his teammates back home, saying that the Snow Owls rule as Wayne sadly raises his hands up to cheer in the back. Raj then tells Bowie to put his "dancing shoes" on, because the two will be going out. Lastly, he goes up to Wayne and puts his arms on Wayne's shoulders. He tells Wayne that, even though they won't reach the end of the game together, they'd always be together in the end, causing Wayne to cry and hug Raj as Raj rubs his best friend's back.

Trivia[]
General[]
- Upon being announced, the episode was erroneously thought to be the twenty-fourth episode of a 26-episode season, as several fans speculated if announced Total Drama reboot for Cartoon Network and HBO Max would be a season of 26 episodes like the first three or two seasons of 13 episodes each one like the latest three. This led Terry McGurrin to explain that with "twenty-fourth episode", he meant the eleventh episode of the reboot's season, clarifying that the network hired him to make 26 episodes overall.
- This is the second episode of the reboot to feature a cameo appearance from a contestant from the spin-off.
- A scene on BBC was removed since it didn't make it past censorship.
- Raj is in the bottom two for the first time in this episode.
- With Raj eliminated in this episode, this is the second time that Julia and Priya have made it to the final four, continuing the trend of two contestants from each generation's debut season's final four making it to the final four in their second season.
- Also with Raj's elimination, the final four contestants all have five letters in their names.
- The following is a list of MacArthur's dogs and the contestants they chase:
- Caleb being chased by Booger is rather ironic due to their sizes, since Booger is the smallest of the dogs, while Caleb is the largest of the remaining contestants.
Continuity[]
- This episode marks the second time that the raptor that Julia insulted makes an appearance after the actual event.
- MacArthur appears in her Total DramaRama cop outfit, rather than her original cop self.
- Wayne being upset about being separated from Raj is similar to Sadie being upset about being separated from Katie in The Sucky Outdoors.
References[]
- The title of the episode is a reference to the phrase "working nine to five."
- Chef calling Raj "pantless and afraid" is likely a reference to the Discovery Channel reality show Naked and Afraid.
- One of MacArthur's dogs is called Edward Scissormouth, as a reference to the 1990 film Edward Scissorhands.
- Another one of MacArthur’s dog is called Chainsaw, a reference to Pochita, from the anime Chainsaw Man.
- The way Caleb gets dragged around by Booger and then tries to grab onto a buoy, only to get dragged underwater, is a reference to the opening scene in the 1975 film Jaws.
- At certain points in the episode, Chef and Chris both say, "Release the hounds!". This is a reference to one of Mr. Burns' catchphrases from The Simpsons.
Goofs[]
- Despite having apparently eaten their socks, the Hockey Bros are somehow wearing both of their socks immediately after.
