The Lac Beetle is an enemy that spawns rarely in the Underground Jungle biome. When killed, it will drop the Violet Husk, which can be used to make Violet Dye.

On the  PC version,  Console version,  Mobile version, and  tModLoader version, it is one of the few entities that can be detected by the Lifeform Analyzer or its upgrades.

Trivia

• Like the Cochineal Beetle, the Lac Beetle exists in the real world, but is a scale insect, not a beetle. It secretes lac, which can be used as dye, or converted into shellac, a brush-on colorant, food glaze, and wood finish.

The Bestiary entry for the Lac Beetle: "These scaly insects thrive in thick subterranean foliage. Their secretions stain many materials in a beautiful violet color."
