Kyuka Island is an island located in Paradise. It is where Mr. 3 and Miss Goldenweek took their days off when they were not on missions.[1]
Geography[]
Kyuka Island is a tropical island with several buildings, including hotels. On the mountain in the center of the island, there is a large tree with an umbrella-shaped cup and a building on top. The islands architecture features many archways, balconies, and swimming pools.[1]

History[]
Little Garden Arc[]
Mr. 3 and Miss Goldenweek were vacationing on Kyuka Island for a few days when they received orders to take out Vivi and the Straw Hat Pirates after Mr. 5 failed to do so.[1]
Miss Goldenweek's "Operation: Meet Baroque Works"[]
After leaving Little Garden, Miss Goldenweek, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine were dropped on the island by the pterodactyl Miss Goldenweek had controlled using Colors Trap.[2] A little roughed up, the three wander the island, but when Miss Goldenweek tries to buy them ice cream cones, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine's Day notice that there are Marines on the island.[3] Hina, Fullbody, and Jango were vacationing on the island while hunting for Mr. 3.[4]
Miss Goldenweek, Mr. 5, and Miss Valentine noticed a wanted poster for Mr. 2 Bon Kurei and decided to put on disguises to hide from the Marines.[5][6] Their disguises would fail them, as Hina obtained sketches of the three Baroque Works agents by bribing the Unluckies.[7] She attacked, and while Miss Goldenweek and Mr. 5 dodged successfully, Miss Valentine's Day was captured.[8] Mr. 5 used his abilities to ward off the Marines, and the two made their escape.[9] Hina secured an imprisoned Miss Valentine and put up a sign warning Kyuka Islands residents and visitors to keep an eye out for Miss Goldenweek, Mr. 3, and Mr. 5.[10][11]
On the island's coast, Mr. 3 prepared his ship when Mr. 2 appeared.[12][13] Miss Goldenweek and Mr. 5 watched from a distance as Hina held Miss Valentine hostage.[14] Suddenly, Mr. 3 rolled out in front of Hina on a cart with a surrender note.[15] However, it was actually Mr. 2 using his ability, and he broke free from his rope, kicking Fullbody in the jaw.[16] Mr. 2 clashed with Hina, allowing Miss Goldenweek and Mr. 5 to rescue Miss Valentine's Day.[17][18] Using Miss Goldenweek's Colors Trap, they forced Hina's subordinates to betray her and sailed away from Kyuka Island on her ship.[19]
Translation and Dub Issues[]
The island is named after a Japanese term for leisure (休暇, Kyūka?). Initially, the Viz manga mistook the katakana for a reference to the English name Cukor; by the time of Miss Goldenweek's "Operation: Meet Baroque Works", this was updated to the more accurate Vacation Island, before being changed again to Kyuka Island in a later instalment of the cover story.
More obscurely, the 4Kids-produced One Piece: Grand Adventure translated it as Holiday Island.
Trivia[]
- An advertisement for the Kyuka Island resort was included in the supplementary Grand Times No. 1200 Issue. The resort advertises that they are giving out free Eternal Poses and tell people to contact them via their phone number 5540 (
5540 , gō-gō-shi-ma?, a pun on "go, go island").
