Youth Environmental Education

Not all classrooms have walls! However, we’re prepared to bring eco-education into the library, studio, or classrooms so everyone can access information about our natural world. Our Youth Education program is geared towards children and teens and often is tailored to meet the needs of youth of a wide age and developmental range. These events may be in a classroom with an associated field, indoors or outdoors, within an educational institution or not. They may include nature-themed storytimes at a local library or bookstore or field trips for students who don’t often get the privilege of exploring our outdoor spaces. Still, they always educate and engage on environmental issues with intersectionality kept in mind.

Youth Stewardship & Volunteer Opportunities

Environmental stewardship and youth education are important to us, so we seek to provide opportunities for youth to volunteer. In addition to volunteering with our H.O.M.E. program, youth can participate in habitat and watershed restoration projects, community and park clean ups, trail work, weed pulling, and more. In 2025, we hope to create a Community Garden club within Siskiyou County. In addition, we plan to partner with local school sustainability clubs in the bioregion to execute environmental projects.

Youth Eco-Education

To make youth environmental education as accessible as possible within the bioregion, we offer events on-site, in the field, and at a 3rd party meeting place like a library, studio, or resource center, and we’re always open to new ideas on how to reach youth. These educational events are geared to meet the needs of students of all ages, learning styles, and abilities. Some examples include:

  • Field Trips
  • Classroom Presentions
  • Nature Themed Storytime
  • Library Visits
  • Youth Stewardship & Volunteer Opportunities

Events not associated with an institution, that anyone can sign up for are below. If you’d like to connect to schedule an eco-educational event for your group, click above.
