On Saturday, August 29th, we're planning a unique exploration of the Medicine Lake Highlands, known as California's most varied volcanic landscape on the largest shield volcano on our continent. The Highlands are highly significant to Native Americans as a Traditional Cultural District and of prime importance for California's water supply.
The Delta Conveyance Project proposes to build a tunnel under the Bay Delta diverting Sacramento River flows to enhance the State Water Project water-delivery capabilities to the Central Valley and Southern California. Our comments focus mainly on the implications of the project for the Upper Sacramento Watershed, including source waters from the Medicine Lake Highlands and Mount Shasta aquifers, while most conservation groups opposed the Delta Tunnel due to its significant impacts on the San Francisco Bay Delta and beyond.
We had to get creative this year, but the annual Water Blessing Ceremony happened! Here's how we did it. Featuring live local music from Robert Renick, with ceremony hosted by MSBEC founder & Senior Conservation Consultant, Michelle Berditschevsky.

To be as inclusive as possible, the Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center is offering scholarship funds to attendees of the Fire Resiliency Workshops. These funds are to help lower travel costs and child care. The Fire Resiliency Workshops will be Friday, March 13th and April 22. You must attend one of the workshops to receive your travel and/or child care stipends. These are first come first served stipends.

The Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center recently relocated to 211 North Mt. Shasta Boulevard, Suite 333, in downtown Mt. Shasta, accepting the invitation to share the offices of Shasta Visions, a local business whose Planet Earth Art aims “to inspire caring for the world.”
