For 20 years Lost has been one of, if not the most important television show of my entire life.
I’ve watched it all the way through once a year, every year, since 2012 and it never stops being important. In some ways it gets more important every year.
This movie is the closest anyone will ever get to fully touching on how it feels to be a lost fan, how huge and intimate and powerful and life changing and unifying.
I felt deeply seen and tremendously moved while watching this. This entire theater full of lost fans felt the exact same way. We laughed and cheered and cried and loved and all found that place we’d meet. The place we built together.
the only thing i love more than LOST is people who love LOST
I’m so proud of this documentary. Thanks to all of the crew, backers, family and friends who supported us over the years it took to make this.
Namaste.
‘ I was hoping it was a gay nightclub’ - Naveen Andrews on being asked what’s in the hatch
"It shows us the flashback, and then it shows us what's going on. Lost shows us who we used to be, how we can be, and ultimately, maybe what we should strive to be."
More than the nostalgia, more than this fandom (that I'm proudly a part of), I love how we didn't shy away from the smoke monster in the room. And that alone more than justifies the existence of this documentary.
We had to go back. We did. Now, we move on. Namaste. ✈️🏝️🐻❄️
Это не остров. Это место, где творятся чудеса.
Namaste and... Good Luck
Today I cried for the first time over a documentary. And you can understand that this is an extraordinary event, considering that I studied at the documentary film department of film school and was forced to watch hundreds of documentaries due to my student debt. And no, this is not a random touching movie that I stumbled upon and now I am rushing to tell you about a tear-jerking experience - I followed the production of this project from its announcement, was happy with every news from the filming, and at one point even thought that if no one implements this film, I will have to do it myself.
When the joy of recognizing my favorite aged actors began to…
Since Lost is my favorite show, I was really looking forward to Taylor Morden’s Getting Lost and it very much delivered. Featuring the majority of the cast (Matthew Fox and Ian Somerhalder are suspiciously absent) as well as Damon Lindelof, J.J. Abrams, Carlton Cuse and Jack Bender, this documentary is a delight. This could’ve been tighter and shorter most specifically by editing down some of the fan interviews but I learned a ton watching this. They even confirmed what they called “obvious” answers to mysteries that were news to me (Walt manifested the polar bear? Say what now?) I also learned that Michael Keaton was supposed to play Jack in the pilot (and die!)
Most importantly, Sawyer is my favorite character…
Full disclosure, I am in this, featured a few times getting to talk about the show Lost. I had met Taylor and Ralph, the director and producers, a while ago when they interviewed me, and I've gotten to see them work on this passion project for nearly three years. I am truly happy to report this documentary is fantastic. Yes, it's a great tribute to the show, how it was made, and some of the incredible storytelling we got from it. But I'm even more happy about how this film portrays the fans. This movie is a love letter to the fans, above all else. I'm also very glad the film addresses and deals with the revelations about the toxic…
As a long time LOST fan, watching this felt like coming home ❤️
It’s hard to overstate what a cultural phenomenon this show was when it aired. My first exposure was a little late - after season 4, maybe? - when I was visiting my then-best friend at his grandpa’s in Arizona, the summer after my first year of grad school in Denver. He was like, “hey, got something for you to check out,” and me, him, and my boyfriend at the time promptly fell into at least a week long hole of non-stop booze, cigarettes, and 60+ episodes, watching pirated copies sitting out in his grandpas garage on very uncomfy chairs. It was heaven, and if I had to…
A beautiful love letter to my favourite show of all time! A must watch for Lost fans.
WE HAVE TO GO BACK!
LOST is my all-time favourite TV show, so there was no chance I was going to be objective about this, but I absolutely loved it. A really great documentary about the show in the year of its 20th anniversary, exploring the origins & ending of the show, parts of the journey it took to get there, and its impact & legacy.
There are a lot of talking heads in this—most of them well-known people, including cast & crew of the show, some famous fans, cultural writers that covered the show as it aired. Then there’s also the regular fans, including podcasters, charity founders, and more. At first I was worried that they wouldn’t fit in, seemingly just there to gush. But then the…
