“I can’t find one.”
God this could NOT have been more cliche. It’s funny cuz every single football movie is the same. It all follows the same underdog team of troubled youths or some shit. I eat it up every time. This time it was a little harder to digest because of the overwhelming about of cheesiness. Disgustingly unsubtle.
Even though that’s a ginormous amount of “L movie”, I still had my fun. I still ate it up. It’s just “The Longest Yard” but with kids.
I think the Rock is THE person to play this role. He’s the perfect cornball. I don’t understand how I’m still able to take him seriously when he plays a role like this but I do, and I think that’s huge for him.
This movie also does an awesome thing in a couple scenes where it seems like they’re wrapping up the movie only to have an hour or half hour left. Kinda legendary.
Definitely nowhere near the best of the bunch but it’s cool.

I always find it awesome when a documentary about something I don’t give a FUCK about makes me kinda give a fuck. I find Alex Honnold to be unbelievably fascinating in many different ways. If he weren’t a rock climber, he’d be a serial killer and I believe that whole heartedly.
It’s a fairly entertaining and really interesting documentary. Lots of emotion. I really like the deeper look in to this guys love life. All of it gave so much more meaning to not only himself as a person but how much the climb meant in general.

Even though it doesn’t join the top 4 on my Wilder list in the conversation for his best, it’s still so fucking great.
The way Wilder writes dialogue in unmatched. It’s quite possible I could say this movie has some of his best written dialogue. What’s even more mind blowing is that he can always find the perfect actors to execute his dialogue.
The story is as good as the rest but is a little on the slower side sometimes. It definitely still portrays a lot of absolutely brilliant filmmaking but it does seem to drag at some points.

He quite simply doesn’t miss. I’ve only seen 5 of his films now, hopefully make it 6 tonight, and I can confidently say he’s one of the best directors/writers to ever do it. Very easily top 10 all time.
This movie was fantastic. I absolutely adore courtroom drama’s and I think this is the best courtroom drama inside the courtroom (top review for this movie is real).
I kinda struggled a little bit to get in to this movie for the first 20 or so minutes but as it went on, I got beyond invested. Even though the first half of the movie is purely set-up for the courtroom, Wilder does such a phenomenal job at crafting this scenario and script. From the first minute we’re in the courtroom till the end, I was on the edge of my seat. Watching Wilfrid demolish bitches with death on his tail is awesome.
The last 20 minutes are some of my favourites ever. There’s like 3 huge plot twists that dropped my jaw more and more as it went on and then the big mic drop at the end is crazy. Easily one of my favourite final acts ever.
Charles Laughton isn’t an actor I’m completely familiar with but he put on one of the best performances I’ve ever seen in my life. Constantly reminding the audience how close he is to death without saying anything. The way he delivers his dialogue in the courtroom. Dawg. He went crazy in this.
It’s just insane to me that I can make the argument for 4 different movies being Billy Wilders best movie. His ranked list might be the one list I’ll be moving around a lot in the future.

After 4 months, the series is back with a banger. I didn’t really know what to expect other than the reputation as one of the best rom-coms ever. I’m here to announce that it lives up to the reputation.
I absolutely ADORE Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. I love the unique type of romance it goes for. The chemistry between Harry and Sally for the entirety of the runtime it’s unmatched. Very easily one of the best on screen couples ever. I also haven’t seen very many Billy Crystal movies but his performance here is incredible. The dialogue is fantastic but his delivery to every line is outstanding.
I love how this movie tells its story. So many time skips but executed flawlessly which is hard to do with how many there are. The editing is great. Also the aging down and up for both of them was incredible.

“Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and keep a straight face.”
Since my last watch in September of last year, this movie hasn’t left me alone. Then the 4K released and it was all I wanted. I’ve wanted to watch this movie on the new release for a week or two now and I’ve also decided I want to clean up some of my 9s and make em 10s. It’s about time I’ve given this movie is true rating.
Along with “Prisoners”, this is THE detective crime thriller film. Fincher executes this magnificent mystery to perfection. I truly believe there’s not a single thing wrong with this movie.
The plot itself is genius. The implementation of the seven deadly sins couldn’t have been better. Every moment of this movie is so intense even when it’s a calmed down scene. There’s not a single moment of lost time. Every second of the film uses every second to its fullest potential. The editing is also fantastic.
This could be my favourite atmosphere in any movie ever. It’s an easy argument to make. It’s basically Gotham City without Batman. Morgan Freeman is just Commissioner Gordon. The lighting of every scene, the dramatic amount of rain, every single room being disgusting, it’s genuinely the perfect world building that makes this story work.
The acting all around is outstanding. One of the best Brad Pitt performances if not the best. Maybe my favourite Morgan Freeman performance. It’s also insane how Kevin Spacy can outshine almost everyone here with the shortest amount of screen time. It blows my mind.
There’s so much to say about this movie. It’s the face of an entire genre. Undeniably one of the greatest films of all time.

I really wish Tom Hardy was given better plots throughout the whole trilogy. He’s so god damn entertaining here and Venom is such a blast of a character. Like how can’t you love Venom dancing to Dancinh Queen with Mrs. Chen. It’s so awesome.

“I’m gods lonely man.”
I don’t really know how to explain it but this is one of those movies where after every rewatch, you can easily believe to be the best film of all time. Even if it might not be true, Scorsese almost forces you to believe it. That’s how I feel about it at least.
From start to finish, I swear to god this is the best character study of all time. When I go a while without a rewatch, I almost forget how perfect it is. It’s a film that has always stuck with me. A character study I’m never not thinking about. It’s crazy how a character like Travis can be portrayed in such a loud way with no room to dig deeper but as soon as you try, there’s so much deeper to go.
There’s so much more to Travis than being just a war vet taxi driver. His decent into mental instability seems to be so much more complex with every watch.
It’s like Schrader lays it all out right in front of you but there’s so much more beneath the platter. It’s the war. It’s the alienation. It’s the world moving forward and he can’t catch up. It’s the loneliness. It’s the isolation. It’s the desire to be loved and for a connection with another human. There’s so much to his character but the movie portrays it as never too much to handle. Simplistic yet complex. It’s astonishing.
I think this is De Niro’s best performance. I don’t think there’s much competition tbh. Like I said, Schrader lays it all out on a platter but De Niro gives everything else to need to get a full and complete understanding of the character. I think this is one of the purest definitions of “acting”.
Apart from being the greatest character study of all time, it’s such an unbelievable film on a technical level. Every shot is unbelievably well set up and shot. The set designs and world building blur the lines between what’s real and fake even though it’s all fake.
The nightlife scenes in this movie are my favourite nightlife scenes of all time. Scorsese does night life like nobody else. I still think the most outstanding thing about this movie is the score. Every time I hear it, nobody can tell me it’s not the best. Other times I love other scores but when I’m reminded of this one, it blows my mind every time. Also can’t fail to mention that it’s top 5 endings of all time.
Man, I love this movie so much. I could talk about it for hours. I really hope it stays in my top 10 for a long time. I feel like it’s a movie that will always find its way back.

To no surprise, this 2000s football movie is just like every other football movie. I don’t really understand how Hollywood got and still GET away with remaking the same story is different US states. It’s just another underdog story.
There’s bits a pieces here that really work for me. I love how they portray the weight of their roles with Coach and Mike. The football scenes themselves are really well choreographed and shot. The soundtrack is disgustingly 2000s. It’s pretty entertaining.
My biggest issue here is that there’s some invisible wall between me and the story and characters. It’s usually so easy for me to give in to every single trope these movies give but there was a huge emotional disconnect the entire time.
I don’t think it’s bad. There’s absolutely nothing special to talk about here.

“Part-time.”
After not watching this movie for many years, and not quite remembering it, I naturally assumed it was terrible. I’ve always assumed for a long time that this franchise should’ve ended with the third film. I come here today to say that this movie is canon and not bad!
This rewatch actually changed a lot for me. It is nowhere near as good as the original three movies but even so, i think this movie is a really good ending to the character.
The story itself is a bit much. I don’t mind the route it takes with Aliens but there’s definitely a lot of plot points that are just plain stupid. Lots of horrific choices like the ants and Mutt swinging from vines with the monkeys. It’s just dumb shit. But my god I’d be lying through my teeth if I said I didn’t have a blast this time around.
I adore the use of the “long lost son” trope this movie does. It’s so classic. Something this franchise does really well is giving Indy really fun sidekicks. I love that Marion returns and they give them both the ending they deserve.
I do genuinely like this movie. It’s not the best but it’s so much fun. Also, like I said, I really like that this movie ends the characters really well. The 5th movie officially doesn’t exist (it never did). It’s cool to finally say this franchise has 4 movies instead of 3.

I adore the story. I love that they took the chance on bringing back the Nazi’s. I love the story of the Holy Grail. I love how it’s executed here.
I also think this is the funniest instalment easily. Short Round hard carries the second film but Harrison Ford and Sean Connery are absolutely sensational together.

Although this movie will never live up to the first or second movie, it’s still forever such a blast. It’s really too bad that it suffers so heavily from the middle act being so lame for the most part and the insufferable existence of Willie.
The story for the most part is kinda lame. I somewhat adore what it’s trying to do but the overall execution of the story is just so boring a lot of the time.
It’s so disappointing because the first act and the finale is so strong here. The action sequences are phenomenal. The set and costume design are really beautiful. Spielberg still portrays brilliant filmmaking.
Indy and Short Round are one of the greatest duos in cinematic history. Their relationship being more of a father-son thing is really awesome. Also for Ke’s first performance, he brings so much needed energy to this movie. Seriously the biggest takeaway from this movie is those two.

It’s been almost 4 years since my last rewatch of these movies and I’ve wanted to show them to Sadie for a long ass time. I hate that it’s been so long but it also felt really fresh. Even though this one never really seems to stick with me that long after rewatch, it’s still such an incredible film. Also an incredible excuse to finally crack open my 4K Steelbook set for the first time.
There’s a scene in The Big Bang Theory where Amy tells Sheldon that Indy has no influence on the outcome of the story. It’s funny to watch after hearing that because it’s pretty real as fuck. Without Indy, the Nazi’s would’ve still found the ark, still would’ve opened it on the island, and still would’ve died. It’s actually incredible to think about but then you realize it’s Indiana Jones and he’s a sexy badass so fuck you.
I really do love the adventure here. I’ll always think the third film is the best of the trilogy but this is undeniably one of the most fun adventures in cinematic history.
I love this movie being the love child between George Lucas and Spielberg. The two of them on a project together is pure greatness. Lucas’ writing paired with Spielberg’s filmmaking is unmatched. Such an incredibly well made film.

I loved so much about this movie. Bong loves political commentaries and this might be the most “take it your dirty whore” he’s ever gone. I’ve seen complaints about how in your face it is but I think he matches it with how funny it is. Mark Ruffalo being Donald trump is both annoying and really awesome.
It’s such a fun and well fleshed out concept. The story overall is so much fun while tackling some huge issues in society.
I truly believe Robert Pattinson has had one of the best comeback stories as an actor ever. It seems like with every new role he takes, he pushes himself further. Like his dub as the Heron, his voice here is fascinating. I adore what he can do and I think he played this role exceptionally.

This movie is everything I wanted it to be, and more. I had really high hopes for it for no real reason but I was really excited to see it.
This movie is so unique. Unique in how it’s made for sure but more refreshingly unique in the story it’s telling. I think this movie stands away from every other prison movie because of its focus. This movie very lightly touches on a lot of the real issues of the justice system and whatnot but choosing to follow how these people “feel human again” makes this one of the most beautiful films of the year.
There’s not a single dull moment in the script. I can’t believe how non-cliched this movie is. Like I said, it touches on all the problems that every other prison movie does but it’s all about the focus.
This might be the best acted movie of the year for me. Even though I haven’t seen any of the other best actor performances, I’m gonna call it now that nobody deserves it more than Coleman Domingo. It’s insane to me how involved he became with this character. You can feel the passion he has through his performance. I don’t care about the apprentice but Stan should’ve been nominated for this performance.
I also didn’t think anything would beat The Substance for makeup Oscar but Stan’s makeup here is ridiculously perfect. Colin Farrell level fire.
Everything was really awesome on a technical level.
I don’t know if I’ll ever rewatch this but if I do, I hope it goes up in rating. This shit RULES.

“The chocolate orange was pronounced dead at the scene.”
I wasn’t really excited to watch this at all tbh. There’s not a whole lot here that pulls me in to it besides wanting to see how Garfield and Pugh match together.
It’s kind of exactly what I expected it to be. Without the phenomenal editing, this movie doesn’t have much special about it. The story itself is unbelievably basic. Nothing really exciting happens and nothing really hit me on an emotional level.
In the beginning, I didn’t really believe Garfield and Pugh at all. It felt kinda strange but as it went on it definitely felt more and more believable till the end.
I didn’t like the end at all. Completely missed an emotional note for me. It meant nothing. It was corny as fuck.

“The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room.”
Denzel Washington, Russel Crowe, and Ridley Scott. I don’t think I can actually put in to words what the three together make me feel but it scratched the itch I needed tonight.
I think Cat and Mouse crime thrillers is up there in my favourites genre’s ever. To me, it could quite literally be the best movie genre there is. Such a hard thing to mess up and when you got a cast like this and a story like this, it’s set up to one hell of a movie.
The story here is awesome. Not a single dull moment through the fairly long runtime. Richie and Frank are really interesting main characters.
It might be weird to say, and maybe it’s been said before and I never heard it, but I truly believe Russel Crowe could’ve been Denzel level of legendary if it weren’t for the undeniable sludge that’s through his filmography. He’s genuinely such a fantastic actor. I love him. Denzel is a legend.
I really want to dig deeper in to Ridley Scott’s career. It’s so damn intriguing how all over the place the ratings for his movies are. This is another really awesome highlight from the guy. The directing here is really great.
The movie overall is really well made. Fantastic cinematography. Great editing. Really awesome soundtrack.
Shit’s gangster. Dare I say.. American Gangster…

“The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.”
Genuinely the best rewatch I could’ve had. This movie didn’t really stick with me since my last watch but this one I think will definitely leave the impact it’s supposed to.
Although it’s very formulaic.. it’s perfects the formula. Our three main characters here are so brilliantly written and acted. Such a depressing and deep story from all three of them. All disconnected while being connected fully. How the script moves through the separate stories is flawless. How those separate stories intertwine with their overall story as brothers and father and sons in unreal.
The fighting here is some of my favourite choreography in any fighting movie I’ve seen. Tom Hardy throwing these guys around like rag dolls and pounding the fuck out of them, and Joel Edgerton’s ground work is seriously some of the best I’ve seen in any movie. The cinematography and editing is also perfect.
There’s not a lot more I can say. I think it just might be my favourite sports movie ever and could even be on my favourites list next rewatch. It took all my power to not bawl my eyes out at the end.

“The gates of hell are open night and day; Smooth the descent, and easy is the way: But to come back from hell and view the cheerful skies, In this the task and mighty labor lies.”
It’s so interesting that a director can make a sequel that undoes and shits on just about everything its best picture winning predecessor accomplished.
It’s really disappointing in a lot of ways. The story is all around a cluster fuck that kinda proves Ridley Scott has no control over his brain anymore. So many decisions that should NOT have been executed. So many things that completely discredit the first movie. It’s actually horrific directing for the most part.
There’s still a lot of good here tho. The action sequences are absolutely gorgeous. The set design and costumes are also crazy as fuck. The score is brilliant. The acting for the most part is incredible. My dislike for this movie comes from parts of the script and that’s about it.
Absolutely fascinating imo. I don’t think I can ever see this as a sequel to the first movie rather than a “what if”. Thinking of this more of a “What if everything Maximus did was for nothing and his movie is actually pointless” helps a lot.
Last and most certainly not least… Lucious is NOT Maximus’s son.

“Fear and wonder, a powerful combination.”
*171 Minute Extended Edition*
I was so excited to revisit this prepping to watch the second one. It’s not only every bit as fantastic as I remembered it to be, but it’s actually better on rewatch.
If it weren’t for Blade Runner, this would very easily be Ridley Scott’s best work. A simple and effective story of revenge perfectly crafted in this world. Maximus is a perfect protagonist and Commodus is a perfect antagonist. Gorgeous set design, phenomenal score from Zimmer, well shot action sequences, there’s really not more you could ask for from this movie.
This could be top 3 Joaquin performances. He doesn’t play a role like this often but Commodus is very easily a highlight from the guy’s huge career. Absolutely stellar performance.
Also don’t think I could ever watch the theatrical cut. The way this movie perfectly paces the almost 3 hour runtime is insane to me.
Lots to say. Tired as fuck. The second movie better be a banger.

Religion.. am I right guys?
I was super interested in seeing this when I first saw the trailer a couple months back. Such a crazy movie for Hugh Grant to star in and I was a bit worried he wouldn’t be able to play the part of a simple psychopath but he actually killed this shit.
The plot is definitely fascinating. I have a thing for these types of religious movies. The ones that make you genuinely think rather than have it shoved down my throat. It’s very interesting to me and this movie, for the most part, is a fantastic example of it.
This movie does lose me with its ending. The message of it all is really great but I expected a lot more. I kept thinking to myself throughout the movie that the destination was gonna play a huge part in my overall thoughts on this and it just didn’t really stick the landing like I would’ve loved it to.
Seriously some of my favourite dialogue of the year. I was worried when I found out this was more of a dialogue driven movie but pleased to find out there’s not a single dull line or delivery through the entire thing. Such a fascinating type of suspense.
Really solid thriller. Phenomenal performances all around. Me likey.

I don’t think I really have to power to put my complete thoughts into words about how unbelievably disgusting, cruel, and evil this movie really is.
I only watched this movie because of award season. If it weren’t for the crazy amount of nominations, this movie would’ve never been watched by anyone.
13 nominations for the Oscars. Fun fact.. that is two more nominations than Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. That movie had 11 nominations. That alone is enough for me to check this out and see what’s going on.
I can not for the life of my figure out how this movie has even a single nomination. There’s absolutely nothing here I’d call “good”.
This movie is an undeniable mess. The substance and weight this movie thinks it has is really hilarious. There’s definitely some things here that work for a couple seconds and if executed to its fullest potential, could’ve made something watchable.
For one, there’s no universe where this movie should be a musical. That fact alone makes every emotional moment that happens in this movie completely empty. I can NOT take this shit seriously. It’s absolutely disgusting for prioritizing the musical aspects over the real problems it attempts to talk about.
The execution of it all is completely unacceptable. It’s genuinely offensive to everyone.
The song between the son and mom/dad/aunt is genuinely a beautiful song but because of the context of the movie, it doesn’t work whatsoever. The songs all around are pretty bad. Almost as if they don’t understand how to capture the emotions needed. An upbeat song talking about how horrible a corrupt government is, is extremely poor taste.
Those are all the thoughts I could put in to words. Everyone involved with this movie should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Zoe Saldana should be ashamed of her reaction to winning an award for this.
The awards going to this movie come the Oscars, will never be deserved. Fuck EVERYONE. Fuck anyone who likes this. Fuck everyone who made this.

I was actually really excited for this because Pharrell is undeniably a legend in the industry. There’s a lot of shit here about his career that’s so fascinating but literally everything about Pharrell as a person is boring as fuck.
I love the idea of a Lego movie like this. I was really hoping for more of a biopic but it’s really nothing more than a Lego documentary. I was actually a bit let down by that fact but it’s cool. I’ll get over it.
It’s beautifully animated. The songs are obviously really great. The original songs for the movie are kinda mid but everything else is FIYAH.

“My pain is unexceptional, so I don’t feel the need to burden everyone with it.”
I was excited for this movie for a while now. I went in to it completely blind but I knew that Kieran and Jesse would be an unbelievably awesome duo. I can say for damn sure.. I was right.
Such a perfectly simple story with two fantastic characters at the lead. Such a beautiful fucked up relationship between family.
There’s so much here that’s so easy to connect with and feel on a human level. I adore what it does going in to Jewish history and stuff while also giving both characters their time to shine. Also the soundtrack was the perfect choice.
Kieran Culkin absolutely demolishes this shit. Sometimes you see a performance that embodies a character genuinely perfectly and it reminds you how hard it is to do what they do.
Bye Dave.
Yeah really solid work from Eisenberg. I now want to check out his debut. I don’t think this movie will stick with me like it should but off one watch, it’s a damn good one.

“Why return to the City of God, where God forgets about you?”
I knew that for my 2000th review on this app, it had to be something big. Nothing bigger than a revisit to what I consider to be one of the most perfect and masterful films I’ve ever seen in my life.
There hasn’t been, nor will there be a movie quite like this one. So unique in every way imaginable yet perfects everything it’s doing.
An unbelievable way of storytelling that uses all of its time more than efficiently, perfectly cuts each story in to the main story, focuses on the right character for the right amount of time that makes their big moment so incredibly satisfying, and so much more. I cannot stress it enough. I think this is the only competition “12 Angry Men” has for best script of all time and if I’m being honest.. this one might have the crown.
Such a tragic story. One of the most depressing and heavy pieces of media but in a way that makes me never want to stop watching it. It could very easily be a film I couldn’t watch all the time but because of how it’s made, it’s genuinely such a phenomenal watch.
I’ll say it again, I’ve never seen a film tackle so many emotions and stories that move so seamlessly. This might be the best edited movie I’ve ever seen in my life. Truly remarkable.
The score and soundtrack is phenomenal. The cinematography is so hazy and somehow adds so much more to the movie than you’d think. A gorgeous looking movie. On a technical level, this might be what I consider the best movie of all time.
I really do believe this will forever be one of the most important, impactful, and beautiful films to ever be made. An insane achievement I could go on and on about.

“Naturally, we never succeed, but it's the pursuit that's meaningful.”
One of those nights where a movie does just about everything it needs to do for you. In a weird way, surprisingly a lot more than expected. I always know exactly what to expect when returning to this movie but the runtime always seems to stop me from wanting to a little bit. It’s awesome how much more I like this movie every time I rewatch it.
At this point I’m one watch away from giving it the perfect rating and putting it on my favourites list. I can’t do it this time because at least a quarter of it was treated as background noise than anything else. Probably one of my favourite background noise movies tbh. Guaranteed 10 on rewatch.
