An absolutely flawless, mature family drama. It genuinely feels like it was written for adults first and kids were kind of an afterthought. Animation as a medium rarely gets better than this.

We really didn't need another superhero movie after this.
A few notes on this revisit:
- Pulls no punches on the domestic trauma front. This is about a husband and father's real betrayal. That late-night fight between the parents is uncomfortably true to life.
- "Tonyloaf"
- Elastigirl caught in the series of doors is better than almost any superhero action sequence staged since.
- "I never look back darling. It distracts from the now." (What does this mean for Incredibles 2?)
- Jason Lee's Syndrome is a great villain: entertaining, good motivation, clever plan.
- The kids said they've watched this too many times, so my wife and I watched it alone. Which is fine, because it was really made for us.

Still so fucking good. Shockingly great but understated cinematography too. The best kind of superhero movie, where everybody has defined powers and they have to use them together instead of just having a special suit and indescribable strength that can do anything the writers want it to do. Said it before, but I really think Elastigirl is the best superhero ever committed to film. Bless Brad Bird for being too smart to commit his entire career to this franchise, but also fuck Brad Bird for not committing his entire career to this franchise. I want more!
