Overview

Absolute Darkness is an event that occurs randomly at any time and exclusively in The Depths. The outset is signaled by a blaring noise, followed by a total loss of light. A yellow pool emitting a bright yellow light is then spawned in one of the various possible locations in the waters of The Depths. This pool abounds with the Ancient Depth Serpent and is the only place where it can be caught. This event also boosts luck by an unknown percentage.

Minutes before the event's finale, the pool may vanish. Therefore, it is recommended players are equipped with a Fish Radar to quickly locate it.

This event is not manifestable. Using Sundial Totem to speed up the celestial cycle has no effect, as the event can happen at any random time, no matter if it's day or night.

Notes

• Due to The Absolute Darkness being extremely dark, it is highly recommended to either have a Lantern that can be bought from Lantern Keeper, or to turn on the "Higher Brightness" setting under accessibility to increase visibility.
• This is one of the few fish where its nametag changes colors.
• Sometimes, even after the event's finale, the pool will remain, though it's quite rare.
• This event can also happen during the day.
• During the event, the player's screen is dimmed significantly or slightly, depending on the time of day. As stated earlier, it's recommended to bring a lantern, as it can be quite difficult to navigate the area in Absolute Darkness.
• The player can use a Fish Radar to pinpoint the exact fishing area of where the Ancient Depth Serpent. Keep in mind that this does NOT pinpoint the location of the Serpent, but the area the player can fish in.
