Inner City Map Menu QoL

  • Map now displays colors for each zone similar to the wiki map.
  • Map now has a button that displays suggested levels for each zone.
  • Map now has a rough estimate for what level a player should be for each outpost.
  • Map can now be navigated by clicking and dragging your mouse in the direction you want to move.
  • Map can now be zoomed in or out with scroll wheel or slider UI.
  • Spirit Pumpkin Head is now dyable.
  • Spirit Pumpkin Head effects were emphasized, changed to be brighter, and given eye trails based on feedback.
    (Spirit Pumpkin Head is a rotating seasonal cosmetic item in the vendor and will be removed when the event concludes)
  • Flesh Seeker Primary Fire will now bounce off obstacles once if target hasn't been found.
  • Flesh Seeker Alt Fire: Shoots a yellow insect that does not seek but travels straight.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a security error if you picked up a stack of biomass that would have overfilled.

I read a lot of feedback about trick or treaters being displeased with the presence of Severed Hands and Bodies mixed in with their treats and fun Halloween costume cosmetics. We are unaware of who is responsible for this... manufacturing mistake but it has been corrected. Trick or Treat drop rates have shifted and a new Pumpkin Pie boost item introduced.

Scrap Menu

During the start of the event, we released the new quick-scrap menu. After allowing users to test it for a bit, we are announcing it fully. You can find this menu by visiting The Yard and clicking the Scrap icon! You will be presented with a warning about the usage of the menu with an agreement you must sign to access the scrap menu. Here you can press the "Scrap" button on the left side of the menu to scrap an item without a confirmation box.

Halloween Season Patch

Seasonal Secronom Bunker Vendor

  • Seasonal Halloween materials, cosmetics, and implants for DF cash.

Dusk, X-Dusk, Dawn

  • Dusk Shop unlocks at level 200.
  • X-Dusk Shop unlocks at level 300.
  • Dawn crafting unlocked at level 400, if you win a weekly competition, or clan shop specific item recipes.

Players with the current x-dusk shop will get dawn for legacy reasons.

The Yard

  • Renaming weapon in the Yard can be done for $20m cash.
  • GCing backpacks in the Yard can be done for $5m cash.
  • GCing weapons in the Yard can be done for $10m cash.
  • GCing armour in the yard can be done for $20m cash.
  • Master Dye can be done in the yard for $1m cash.

Misc.

  • Added new Biomass ammo type (required for Flesh Seeker), it can be looted in Death Row or crafted with devil hearts/volatile hide/behemoth biomass for non-transferable mega stack.
  • Non-transferable items can now be withdrawn from the Collection Book for free.
  • Fixed a bug with projectiles where they wouldn't use critical hit damage text.
  • Lootable Prof 110 weapons and Battle Axe now have unique models

Weapon Mastery Update

  • Weapon Masteries now grant double the boost per level and cap at 20%.
  • Melee, Chainsaw, Rifle, and Pistol weapon masteries have had their xp requirement per level lowered, this should help with how these progress as they are used in slower gameplay scenarios like looting or in close range combat.
  • Shotgun, SMG, Machinegun, and Explosive weapon masteries were all changed to have a matching xp requirement per level.

Mastery levels will automatically correct themselves based on these changes. One level up may be required to fully see these changes in the mastery UI display.

These changes are aimed to help weapon masteries feel more impactful as players are leveling and progressing in the game rather than being strictly an end-game system.

Implant Stat Adjustment

The following implants have had their stats adjusted to be more inline with other implants available.

Mortality Implant

  • Exp Gain: 5% -> 9%
  • +6% Damage Inflicted

Murder Implant

  • Damage Inflicted: 5% -> 10%
  • +25% PvP Point Gain

Lethality Implant

  • Damage Inflicted: 5% -> 10%
  • +20% PvP Point Gain

Dark Pumpkin Implant

  • Damage Inflicted: 8% -> 10%
  • +3% Damage Reduction

Challenger Implant

  • Damage Inflicted: 6% -> 8%
  • Weapon Find Chance: 22% -> 25%
  • Search Speed: 12% -> 15%

Prowler Implant

  • Damage Inflicted: 3% -> 5%
  • +7% Movement Speed

Prophecy Implant

  • Damage Inflicted: -15% -> -20%

Repair Kits

  • Reduced repair amount from 100% to 50%

Repair Kits were designed to be a small item sink for scrap items (crafting materials prevent them from being converted into cash) and while they help with that to a degree, they do not remove enough currency to justify completely nullifying the concept of carrying spare armour. As a result of Repair Kit release the armour market has been on the decline. Based on feedback, we're going to meet in the middle and make repair kits act similarly to Nerotonin 5A in balance.

New Camp Valcrest Vendor Implants

The following implants have been added for $50,000,000:

  • Savage Eye (Frostbite Implant-like)
  • Scavenger Gland (Jingle Bell Implant-like)
  • Ravenous Gut (Exp based implant)

Feral Heart:

  • Damage: 10% -> 12%
  • Search Speed: -35% -> -30%

Important Policy Update: Scamming and Loans

Dear Dead Frontier Players,

Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of our community. We have an important update regarding our policies on scamming and loans.

Effective October 14th, 2024, our Support and Game staff will no longer return items or currency to users involved in any trade or rental services including clan services.

While we have always advised players to trade at their own risk, our dedicated game staff have often gone above and beyond to assist voluntarily. Moving forward, after the October 14th deadline, game staff will not return items in these cases. They will review incidents to determine if a service was involved and use their discretion to take appropriate action.

Please note that scamming remains against our game rules. Although items may not be returned, accounts involved in scamming will still face suspension.

To reiterate: providing and/or using rental services including clan services is done entirely at the user’s risk. The game staff are not responsible for items lost in any such arrangements and will not be providing support going forward after October 14th, 2024.

EDIT: Just to clarify, when individual players loan items to other individuals, these cases will continue to be handled on a case-by-case basis as usual.

Clan HQ Member List Bug

Hello everyone,

We've recently discovered a bug in which clans that were set to "open recruitment" were able to have members join beyond the clan's capacity. This bug has since been fixed, however there are a few clans that currently have more members than they should.

Clans that currently have more members than their capacity will have 7 days to lower their member list to their correct maximum members. After 7 days, we will forcibly remove any members from clans based on the time they joined.

This said, we recommend that clans correct this problem themselves to avoid any issues. Thank you for your understanding.

    • Clan creation cost is now $5,000,000
    • Clan leaders can now upgrade member slots up to 100, each slot costing more in-game cash
  • Member competitive status feature, only competitive members can gain score and win the shops.
  • Clan invite only toggle or open recruitment, open recruitment lets players join your clan without invite.
  • Players do not lose experience gained on death until level 50 now.
  • OAs now happen every 3 hours and last 20 minutes.
  • Devil Hound and Bandit Raid near Secronom Bunker will spawn closer.
  • Raven Ridge bosses now spawn in groups of 4 instead of 2, health reduced to half, guaranteed MC items.
  • Reduced movement speed on Raven Ridge bosses.
  • Ghost Ammo can now be switched in the credit shop, no support ticket required
  • All Tier 2 implants were changed to 200c for gold members.
  • Removed common cosmetics from the shop and reduced prices on other cosmetics.
  • Updated the Beginner's Guide on the Help page with basic changes thanks to the Helpers on Discord.
  • Apex Implant changed to 3 Devils Heart, 3 Volatile Hide, 3 Behemoth Biomass
  • Criminal Loot Find Chance increased from 5% to 10%

Mini Update for Ironman Event (V244)

  • Added the ability to dismantle Metal Bars and Fabrics into their base materials.
  • Changed Armour so that it dismantles into more Metal Scrap / Bars based on armour tier.
  • Ironman character now get their level 50 and under free stat reset back on Reincarnate for fairness.
  • Ironman characters can now craft .50 and 12.7 ammunition.
  • Fixed a bug that made it always Afternoon daytime.
  • Fixed a bug where Ironman characters could not barricade.
  • Fixed a bug where Ironman characters could not complete item retrival based missions.
  • Fixed z fighting textures with roads.
  • Vendor now cycles weapons and armour every 4 hours instead of daily.
  • Supplies for food and meds increased for Ironman Vendor, but only resets once a day (or lvl up).
  • Prof 50 weapons can now be dismantled for Uncommon Metal Scrap instead of Metal Scrap.
  • Tier 2 120 weapons and armour can now be dismantled for 2 Rare Metal Scrap instead of 1.

Quick development side note:

The team is currently hard at work on the move to Unity 5. This includes some system rewrites, bug fixes, QoL editions, reworks, performance improvements, etc. Stay tuned.

HCIM small update

  • Hardcore Ironman accounts can no longer profession change into the HCIM class again for a second free stat reset. (choosing to profession change on a HCIM will mean you cannot change back into HCIM ever again on that account)
  • You can no longer GC items in the yard with credits. (this was a mistake left in on my part)
  • A barricading fix for HCIM accounts is currently being worked on, we will have an update on this when we fix it.

Hardcore Ironman Event 2024

Hey everyone, its finally time for the hardcore ironman event to take place. We appreciate everyone's patience thus far as we've been working to implement this as an official part of the game. Please keep in mind that despite running previous ironman events in the past, this becoming an official part of the game means we may have to change things in the future as we learn ourselves what needs to be changed. Anyway, all the boring stuff aside! Lets get down to the important stuff.

The Hardcore Ironman event will be starting on Friday, June 7th, around 7-8am EST forum time and ending exactly 1 month later on July 5th. We will post an announcement when the event starts that day as well. In order to enter all you have to do is create a new account after the event has started and select the "Hardcore Ironman" class. In the previous events we had rules that had to be manually checked by staff however this time anything that is not allowed while playing as the Hardcore Ironman class will be blocked automatically. This means that if you try to access the marketplace you will simply be redirected back to the outpost page so there will be no fear of accidentally being disqualified.

  • Hardcore accounts will PERMANENTLY lose all items and character progress on death.
  • HARDCORE IRONMAN ACCOUNTS MUST BE CREATED AFTER THE EVENT STARTS TO QUALIFY
  • !WE WILL NOT RESTORE ITEMS OR PROGRESSION LOST!

Dead Frontier Hardcore Ironman 2024

Hey everyone! Sorry to keep you waiting, I know some of you have been waiting to hear more about this years hardcore ironman event and we're going to post a little bit of teasers about this years edition. For those of you unfamiliar with what a hardcore ironman event is, please see this post https://fairview.deadfrontier.com/onlinezombiemmo/index.php?topic=955779.0 on our previous HCIM to get more information.

The most important part is the start & end date, however currently we don't have a set in stone start time as of right now. However, we do want to try getting this event out to you guys sometime this month. I'll have a more exact date for you guys soon hopefully once we make enough progress behind the scenes on what we're working on.

Speaking of which, this years HCIM is going to include the implementation of a new *PERMANENT* profession(s), the Hardcore Ironman class! Instead of having to register into the event via discord and/or the forum post like previous events, to enter this years version all you have to do is create a new account when we release the event and select the new profession and it will automatically put you into the event. Since any trading and/or market usage will not be possible, this class will be capable of repairing its own armor. If you die on the hardcore account, you will be greeted with a reincarnation screen and a choice.

Alongside this new profession there will also be an entirely new and unique hardcore ironman shop similar to how the dusk/xdusk shop works. We can't reveal too much just yet, but I will attach a small teaser below this post for those who are interested.

We will have more information such as the start/end date along with more details about the level rewards when we're ready to release them, we just wanted to give you guys a little bit of a teaser until the event comes out 😄

I've read over the forums and discord channels since the announcement post and saw a few questions that I think should be addressed. Firstly, I linked the old hardcore ironman thread as a reference for people to see what the old event was about, the rewards from last year (that being x-dusk) will NOT be the same. The rewards for placing in this event will be entirely new and only obtainable from playing as the new profession. With that being said, the items shown in the teaser post are just a small teaser and there will be more included as rewards during & after the event but we just wanted to tease one of them to start off. Lastly, players are wondering about the venditron. Currently our plan is to include it however make it entirely custom for the HCIM class, meaning we are looking into making items limited per account. We'll have more information on everything closer to release of the event, but if you are unsure of anything or have questions please post them on the announcement post here https://fairview.deadfrontier.com/onlinezombiemmo/index.php?topic=958846.0and I will try to answer them as I can.

More Wiki Weapon Updates

Through lots of complaints and research from other users, it is concluded that there had been some misrepresentation in how reloading mechanic works: In addition to the normal 0.25s @ 124 Reloading, weapons take another 0.05s to actually "ready", increasing the total reload time to 0.3s.

DPS @ 124 Reloading stats will be fixed to reflect this.

Webplayer & Custom Browser Support Ending

We have decided that going forward, we will stop supporting Unity Webplayer and the Custom Browser (Crominium). This is because very few players actually still use them and the work required to keep them functioning simply isn't worth it anymore. In the past, the standalone client had issues which meant some people were forced to use the webplayer. However most of those issues have been fixed for quite a long time, so almost everyone should now be able to enjoy the game in standalone.

We are also planning to upgrade the game engine to a newer version of Unity, where the webplayer is no longer available. Overall we feel that the improved performance and features of the newer Unity version will far outweigh the any benefit of having the webplayer available.

For the moment the webplayer and custom browser will still be available to use. But once we release our next update, the webplayer option will be completely removed. The custom browser will probably continue to work for longer, but you may start to encounter issues over time so it's probably better to switch to a more modern browser as soon as you can.

  • Fixes for weather and daytime visuals. Including the no sunlight bug when loading from an interior initially and exiting to an exterior area. Fixes for some bugs with weather transitions.

  • Alt Fire was changed to a toggle, Press Q to turn it on or off
  • Impaler was given an alt fire that is more of a burst, while the main fire remains "automatic" feeling.
  • Warhawk X10 and Sandstorm S19 were given an alt fire that doesn't pierce, but does higher single target damage.
  • Grenade Launchers were all given Armour Ignore property so direct fire no longer bounces off of armour.
  • Grenade Launcher Direct Fire now explodes hitting more enemies behind the first target hit, rather than spawning the explosion directly on the first target.
  • Stagger mechanic now considers current infected health, the lower their health the easier they are to stagger.
  • Icons should no longer lower in resolution for those that use Very Low potato settings.
  • Reverted Rifle Noise radius to original levels.
  • Moved the mission text up so that boosts no longer cover it.
  • Fixed the Valkyrie, it should now be shooting 3 direct fire grenades
  • Fixed the missing textures on a couple of Chemical Plant boilers.
  • Fixed an issue with crates not despawning when leaving an office exterior area.
  • Fixed a bug with torchbolt bolts being overly bright due to new particles.
  • Fixed a bug that gave infected dementia when staggered

We're working on a new client that addresses the remaining Easter issues, we've run into some technical issues with the installer and need a little more time.

Non-Client related changes live now:

  • SB Gaurds have Pocket Cannons for the day
  • Amulet and Crown treasure were made less rare so you can combine them more often.
  • Easter Egg images have been changed in color to help players differentiate them.

A quick look at the new Explosive primary fire. Shoot grenades directly into the infected for bonus knockback, however, this attack does not go over walls... but will bounce once off of objects that are not infected.

Don't worry, the grenade launcher utility of shooting over objects isn't gone. That is now the explosives alt fire mode.

Dev Work

Raven Ridge was a major success. Thank you so much for all the support and feedback.

We saw that the new server was easily capable of supporting 6,000~ concurrent users (Dead Frontier's highest concurrent count ever, after nearly 16 years!) with room to easily support even more. The success of RR has put us in a position that allows us to continue focusing on upgrading and working on Dead Frontier's core. This includes things like engine improvements, multiplayer improvements, reworking game systems, improving / fleshing out enemy AI, Quality of Life changes, and building on social elements like clans and clan HQs. That's where we've been the last couple of weeks.

The Easter Event client will not only feature the new event but also addresses some recent discussions on the forums and in Discord.

  • Upscaled HD textures for most game assets / particles
  • Tons of bug fixes game-wide
  • Quality of Life changes game-wide based on feedback

We want to spend some time really polishing out the game and get the experience smoother as a whole while addressing long standing issues with gameplay. That said, I am still working on a Raven Ridge pt2 update that expands on visual variety throughout the area and more points of interest. Afterwards, the Inner City will also be getting more points of interest and visual variety such as new buildings and bosses with specific boss-only loot. Expect these smaller content releases sprinkled in over the next few months.

Was made a top priority and was fixed last night by hotrods20. There was an issue with tracking boss loots which should now be resolved. Go get those rewards.

Challenges that were previously capped at level 325 should have now been extended to level 415s to complete as we work on more.

We decided to disable crafting recipes for ammunition.

Initially these recipes were intended to help *lower* levels (level 50 and under) with a way of getting ammunition when the markets for those supplies were bought out by high levels for their weapons like the Clawshot 10, X-MP5, etc.

Unfortunately this led to high level players theorizing that you could now buy out the low level market items (weapons, clothing, etc) to craft that ammo extremely cheaply for themselves. Which was an oversight on our behalf and resulted in low level player equipment being bought out instead.

Towards the end of the Raven Ridge development cycle, the Vendor was introduced and this solved that problem in a much better way as it is localized to the Outposts where this issue is relevant. We didn't see an issue with leaving crafting recipes for ammunition in at the time, but as a safegaurd of sorts we introduced crafting recipes to convert high level weapons into different ammunition types to encourage high level players to use ammunition they can find in their appropriate level zones.

Unfortunately the introduction of these conversion recipes (and the conveniences of being able to find your own ammo through that) wasn't enough to deter higher level players from buying out low level ammunition. We'll be moving forward with the vendor route for now and keeping an eye out.

Based on feedback, we've reordered the Devils Implant and Volatile Implant crafting recipe requirements and stacked the additional needed Devils Hearts and Volatile Hides onto the Volatile Devil Implant crafting recipe. If you crafted a Devils Implant or a Volatile Implant (not the Volatile Devil Implant) in the last 2 weeks then ping me in a global support ticket and I will check the date you crafted the item and refund crafting materials you lost with this change.

The looter mastery bonus for "Item Find Chance" has now been corrected and should appropriately display ingame as well as provide a better bonus per level earned. The skill requires level 500 to max out the search speed bonus which remains unchanged, and looter level 1,000 to receive the full 5% item find chance bonus. 🙂

Small Server side update

Based on feedback the Craftsman Profession can now:

  • Turn Cloth Scrap into Thread
  • Turn Fabric into Cloth Scrap.
  • Turn Metal Scrap into Metal Shards.
  • Turn Metal Bars into Metal Scrap.


  • Thread is used to craft into Cloth Scrap (all tiers).
  • Metal Shards are used to craft into Metal Scrap (cmmon/uncommon).
  • These recipes are in the Crafting menu and only available to Craftsman.
  • Treasure category added to crafting menu.
  • Crown treasure added to Death Row.
  • Combine with Amethyst (DR), Sapphire(RR), Emerald (RR), and Ruby (RR) for increased scrap value similar to Gem Amulet.

  • It was brought to our attention that the Sand Scorcher was dealing more damage than before the Raven Ridge update released. After investigating this, we've found that it was due to a merge conflict between our test environment beta stats and live server and was an unintended change that slipped through. The damage will be reverted to it's previous damage of 17 instead of 21 (same value stated on the wiki and past forum posts). We'll be looking at tuning fire resistance stats on enemies based on this new info.
  • EX Boosts are a temporary seasonal item, and will be removed from the shop as the Lunar New Year event ends on February 25th. So a little less than 1 week from now they will no longer be available. EX Boosts bought before this date will remain in your inventory / storage, but once expired they can no longer be consumed. Remember to check the expiration date and time on the tooltip.

  • Dusk, X-Dusk, and Dawn Carbine have gotten a little bit of a damage boost and slow amount to help them be at the same tier other Dusk / X-Dusk / Dawn items were sitting at compared to new items.
  • If you didn't see the last post edit a few days ago, Dawn Enforcer was given a little bump in damage to 48 base damage and slowamount as well.
  • Wyvern RX8 was given the proper 100% Armour Penetration tag in tooltip. Damage was increased from 275 to 300. Flame projectile speed was increased from 22 to 28.
  • Elemental Penetration stat tooltip should be displaying on items that have that stat type now. (Hailstorm C12, Torchbolt, Cryo Launcher, TN8 Flamethrower, Dragon's Maw) - If you see it say 0.2% it's actually 20%, 0.1% is 10%, etc etc. hotrods is working on it now and will be fixed shortly.
  • Missions at Dogg's Stockade, Precinct 13, Fort Pastor, and Secronom Bunker that were too far away from the outpost have now been moved much closer to their respective outposts. This should help low to mid-game players complete more missions.

These variants will have altered/improved stats (increased scrap values) and alternative outpost appearances compared to their original counter parts. There are still some bugs that need sorted but we've tackled enough of them so I don't have to stay up until 4 AM anymore.

Client 233

  • Reduced the number of exploding Hazmat Zombies in the Chemical Plant by 30%.
  • Fixed a bug where loading the game initially wouldn't give you a weather type at all and would remain blank for that entire session.
  • Fixed loot spots and asset issues in Prison Cell Block A, Prison Cell Block B, Prison Dining Hall, and Prison Dining Hall.
  • Fixed loot spots and asset issues in all 4 Cabin building layouts.
  • Removed transparent floor on the second floor of Cell Block A and Cell Block B as it caused too much of a performance dip to see the floor below.
  • Fixed some flickering texture issues in the Prison exterior courtyard and made barbed wire fences on the ground less burried so they are a little easier to see.
  • Made yellow exits around Raven Ridge blocks more visible so players do not accidently leave.
  • Made Rat Zombies attack collider more narrow and shorter to make align more with the enemies attack animation.
  • Made Rat Zombie slightly darker in texture as players said it was too bright.

Client 234

  • Added menu block to RR similar to Death Row based on difficulty feedback and players exploiting menu pausing with bosses and hordes.
  • Changed day time brightness settings so all three (morning, afternoon, evening) were less blinding to the player.
  • Increased the humanoid infected spawn rates for all biomes to be roughly 15-20% of the spawn population based on feedback. (Hiker, Cloaker, Military, Firefighter, Chemical Plant Worker (Not Hazmat) Zombies)
  • Removed Gold name on Rare Food and medical items and made them green.
  • Fixed a bug that made certain bosses have massive loot zones on their death ragdoll that covered half of the block.
  • Fixed a bug that made the Wolf Zombie in the forest biome run slowly when player aggros them.
  • Fixed the FPS and Ping HUD display so that it was no longer covered by players Health and Hunger status bars in-client.
  • Fixed a bug where the players flashlight was turning on when inside interiors despite being in very low quality settings causing performance issues for those on low end hardware.
  • Fixed a bug that made zombies with alternative texture swaps switch to their original texture on their death ragdoll when in very low quality settings.
  • Fixed the texture issue on the Harvestor of Sarrow weapon making it appear black.
  • Fixed a bug that was enabling light sources in very low quality settings causing performance issues for low end hardware.
  • Fixed a bug that was allow weather settings to overwrite quality settings enabling light settings for interior windows.
  • Fixed a bug that was making boss loot not follow their death ragdoll correctly, resulting in loot spots being further away from their body.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing the players flashlight to flicker when loading or unloading the game map menu.
  • Fixed issues with Chemical Plant building assets highlighting yellow even if not lootable.
  • Reduced brightness settings for day time cycles even further based on feedback.
  • Made yellow exits around Raven Ridge blocks even more visible based on feedback.
  • Reduced the scale/size of bears and rats to be more proportional to the player based on feedback.

Misc / Today

  • Made Prof 90 weapons appear in RR again as some are still near 20k scrap value.
  • Removed the level 35 armour from RR
  • Increased Dawn Enforcer damage to 48 base

RAVEN RIDGE RELEASE & SERVER UPGRADE

I'm happy to announce that we will be releasing the highly anticipated Raven Ridge (aka Ashwoods) update and moving Dead Frontier to much more powerful servers on Tuesday February 6th!

We will take down the live Dead Frontier servers at approximately 8am EST and proceed with making the necessary changes. Because this is such a large update, and because we're also upgrading our hardware, we will need an extra long maintenance window to make sure we have time to complete all the necessary steps and test it all. Therefore we expect the game to be down for anywhere between 6 and 12 hours. If for some reason it should take any longer than this, we will keep you updated via our Discord.

P.S I should warn you, that there will be bugs and possible performance issues even after the long maintenance window. If you're the type of person who is likely to find that frustrating I'd recommend not playing on your main account right away. Once things have been out a couple of days everything should settle down and your overall experience will probably be much better.

P.P.S Please note that once the update is complete you will need to reach level 415 instead of 325 for Dusk Shop access. People already at 325 will keep their access however. So if you're a maniac, it might be worth reaching 325 before the update.

P.P.P.S Remember, EXP gained after 325 does not count towards 415!

Client Update V126

  • Players will no longer disconnect from multiplayer for AFK if in a private instance.
  • Seasonal lootables are now more random and shouldn't overlap as often.
  • The HUD chat font has changed, now supporting special characters in multiple languages.
  • Private instances now reflect lowercase and uppercase in the text box.
  • Named items will now show in the loot popup with a coloured name.
  • Rifle Aggro radius has been reduced but is still higher than its original value.
  • Storage has had its maximum increased from 400 -> 480 slots
  • All pistols in the arena no longer have a damage nerf.

Server Updates

This is a brief post about non-easter updates, the announcement for the event will follow a little bit later.

  • A new boost option has been added to the credit shop, offering exp, damage and speed boost for a slight discount.
  • Crafting recipes for Dawn and Dusk items require more Rare Metal Scrap.
  • ALL SMGS received a significant buff by increasing critical hit from low to average chance.
  • Death Row and Wastelands boss nests have been added.

Fast Travel Rework:

  • Fast travel now requires you to visit outposts at least once to travel there. By default, all players can travel to Nastya's and we have given everyone the ability to fast travel to their last main outpost.

Arena Balance Changes:

  • We are trialing some experimental arena balance changes for the duration of the easter event. (with the possibility of remaining after) Over the duration we will be monitoring feedback and making changes to get this right.
  • Rifle damage has been reduced 35%.
  • Revolver (pistol type) damage has been reduced by 15%.
  • Auto pistols damage has been reduced by 10%.
  • Melee damage has been increased by 20%.
  • Pistols are able to cap at 90 critical hit instead of 80 while in the arena.
  • Pistols now support the aim assist mechanic similar to rifles.

For the duration of the event, players will receive:

  • 200% pvp points boost
  • 35% speed boost while in the arena
  • 60% damage boost while in arena
  • 30% damage reduction boost while in arena

Additional Hotfixes

  • Reaper Bunny's health was reduced to 60k, and damage was reduced to 200.
  • All SMGs were given roughly 15% more damage. (Heat Pit 75 and SLH given roughly 20%)
  • X-Eggsploder-MM1 changed to Heavy Grenades and given a 10% damage buff.

Armour Penetration Rework:

  • Armour Penetration now works AFTER full damage is dealt to PvE armour. This should make pistols in particular much more effective with armour penetration.
  • Example based on wiki values:

Damage per Hit: 49.8 (249)
50% Armour Penetration
249 damage is applied to the PVE armour. Then 249 * 0.5 (50%) is applied to the infected health.

Client Update 124

  • Easter event preparations.
  • Torso rotation speed for the player was slightly increased.
  • The colour green has been darkened in the inner city.
  • Adjustments were made to the crosshair code to try and make it more accurate to your bullet trajectory.
  • A number of other optimizations and code rewrites.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug where critical hit damage numbers were not displaying in some cases.
  • Fixed a bug where flamethrower projectiles sometimes had trouble hitting smaller enemies.
  • Fixed a bug where cryothrower projectiles were shooting through walls.
  • Fixed a bug where blond hair on avatars was not working correctly.

Balance Changes:

  • The aggro radius for rifles has been increased.
  • Crafting recipes for Dawn and Dusk items require more Rare Metal Scrap.
  • ALL SMGS received a significant buff by increasing critical hit from low to average chance.

These balance changes for SMGs will go live shortly after server reset, and are part of a series of changes that we have planned. We will share more details in a post after Easter that goes over our plans for each category and specific items.

Client Update 124 Additional Info

  • The SMG buff will be live tomorrow after our scheduled maintenance, we apologize for the confusion.
  • There is a one time settings reset that was included with this client update, this was necessary to improve our development workflow. We apologize for any inconvenience.

If you are having performance issues as a result, consider the following in the client settings:

  • Check if VSync is toggled on, if it is disable it and increase your fps cap.
  • Increase your cpu core count higher than 1, this will significantly increase performance.

Changes that will be live beginning tomorrow:

  • Fast Travel Rework:
    • Beginning tomorrow after maintenance players will need to visit fast travel locations to unlock them. By default, players will unlock Nastya's Holdout and the last outpost they visited before the start of the maintenance period.
    • This rework was necessary to add support for future non-outpost fast travel locations.
  • Arena:
    • We are trying a number of balance changes to the arena as a trial run for the duration of the easter event alongside an additional 200% pvp points boost.
    • Rifle damage has been reduced by 40%.
    • Melee damage increased to 80%. (up from 60%)
    • Pistols have been granted the aim lock mechanic in addition to rifles.

Client Update 125

  • Fixed a bug that broke melee knockback.
  • Fixed a bug in the school building that caused some rooms to have a dark fog.

TL;DR:

  • Masteries

Warrior mastery split into Melee Expert, Chainsaw Expert, Pistol Expert, Rifle Expert, Shotgun Expert, SMG Expert, Machinegun Expert, and Explosive Expert. Final round of balancing tweaks.

  • Crafting and Dismantling

When dismantling a 120 proficiency weapon or level 75+ repair armour you will receive 1 Rare Metal Scrap, a non-transferable material. Crafting Recipes will be rebalanced to utilize Rare Metal Scrap instead of specific weapons.

  • Looting Competition

For every object you loot, you gain a point. The player or clan with the most points at the end of the week wins!

  • Boss Nests and Horde Blocks

Adding event and boss support for interiors/buildings. Rebalancing Boss Nests to happen a few times a day rather than once a day.

  • Misc.
    • Private instances are ready!
    • Dusk items will be available in the X-Dusk shop.
    • The Yard will now have a scrapped item recovery system.
    • The Yard will now have a rename removal service for 50c.
    • Ghost Ammo will now be purchasable from the Credit Shop.

We'll be rolling out an update on January 30th for these changes, so there will not be another Dev Progress Report until next month
