Roderick Kennedy was a judge on the New Mexico Court of Appeals. He was appointed to the court by then-Republican Governor Gary Johnson in 1999 and reappointed in 2001.[1] He was retained by voters in 2004 and 2012.[2] Kennedy served as chief judge of the court from 2013 to 2015. He succeeded Celia Castillo, who retired from the court.[3]
Kennedy announced his retirement in August 2016. He retired on November 30, 2016.[4]
Education
Kennedy received his bachelor's degree from the College of Wooster and his J.D. from the University of Toledo.[1][5]
Career
Kennedy worked as an assistant district attorney and as an attorney in private practice before he was elected to the Metropolitan Court in Albuquerque in 1988. He served on this court until his appointment to the court of appeals in 1999. He has also served as a judge pro tem for the Jicarilla Apache Nation.[1][5]

Kennedy was retained with 76.42% of the vote in the general election on November 6.[6][7][8]
