Candidate Connection

Mike Yin completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Yin's responses.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

- Protecting education funding - Enabling more options for local communities - Protecting our Public Lands

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Education - the single biggest investment into a community's future is making sure the next generation is educated and can make great choices and solve great problems as well as making sure families want to grow there and attract businesses that need a workforce. Transportation - I'm currently on my local bus system's board of directors. I like having communities that are very walkable and/or bikeable.

What legacy would you like to leave?

A Wyoming that lives in tandem with its natural beauty and wildlife and one that is a great place to raise a family no matter who you are.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

Yes. Working together is how things get done. Having a working relationship with other legislators is how we can work to solve the problems of all of our communities and of Wyoming.

What process do you favor for redistricting?

I'd like to see a purely algorithmic process that is transparent, so every citizen can know how the districts are made. Having an open process to determine the algorithm would be good as well.

Note: Ballotpedia reserves the right to edit Candidate Connection survey responses. Any edits made by Ballotpedia will be clearly marked with [brackets] for the public. If the candidate disagrees with an edit, he or she may request the full removal of the survey response from Ballotpedia.org. Ballotpedia does not edit or correct typographical errors unless the candidate's campaign requests it.

Ballotpedia biographical submission form

The candidate completed Ballotpedia's biographical information submission form:

What is your political philosophy?

Progressive. I want to give back to my community and my state to make it a great place to raise a family, and make sure we have a great lasting legacy with our public lands so future generations can enjoy them. [3]

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Wyoming

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Wyoming scorecards, email suggestions to [email protected].
