Melissa Hurtado (Democratic Party) is a member of the California State Senate, representing District 16. She assumed office on December 5, 2022. Her current term ends on December 7, 2026.
Hurtado (Democratic Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent California's 22nd Congressional District. She lost in the primary on March 5, 2024.
Biography
State Senator Melissa Hurtado grew up in the Central Valley. After getting her degree at Sacramento State, Hurtado returned to the Valley. She served on the Sanger city council from 2016 until her election to the Senate in November 2018. Before she served on the Council, Hurtado worked as a community organizer for public employees.[1]
