Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Alabama

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

2023 Federal Indictments

On March 15, 2023, Rogers was indicted on two counts of obstruction of justice and obstruction of justice by bribery. The indictment accuses Rogers of directing funds, meant for public projects in Jefferson County, to a youth baseball league.[11]

On October 12, 2023, Rogers pleaded not guilty to both counts of obstruction of justice.[12]

On February 2, 2024, a federal grand jury further charged Rogers with one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, 11 counts of wire fraud, one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice, 3 counts of obstruction of justice, and aiding and abetting the making of a false statement to federal investigators.[13]

Rogers agreed to a plea deal on March 11, 2024. As a part of the deal, Rogers agreed to resign from the Alabama House of Representatives.[14]

On July 30, 2024, Rogers was sentenced to 13 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release. Rogers must also pay nearly $200,000 in restitution.[15]
