STORY CITY – Atlantic senior Aiden Smith improved to 20-1 on the season after he won the 138-pound championship at Saturday’s Jim Kinyon Norseman Invitational Saturday at Roland-Story High School.

Smith picked up a pair of wins before scoring a nice technical fall victory over Estherville-Lincoln Central’s Brody Olson in the semifinals. In the championship, he picked up an equally impressive 5-3 win over Grinnell’s Logan McDonald.

Two other Trojans finished second: Keaton Schroeder at 106 and Collin Harris at 113.

Schreoder got a pin and major decision before falling 9-4 to Winterset’s Kline Kiburz. Harris pinned his first three opponents before Hunter Campion of Anamosa won a 2-0 match in the championship.

Jayden Harter (150) and Donovan Hedrington (190) were third, while Braxton Hass was fourth at 126.

The Trojans finished third in the team standings, with Sergeant Bluff-Luton winning and Winterset taking second.

2 area girls win at Adel: Atlantic’s Haley Armstrong and Riverside’s Molly Allen were champions at the Raccoon River Northwest Invitational Saturday at ADM High School, Adel.

Armstrong won the 235-pound championship, earning three first-period wins, including a 1:02 pin of Carroll’s Emma Daniels in the championship. She was one of just two Trojans who competed, with Hailey Huffmann seeing her first action of the season at 125 pounds.

Allen, a day removed from winning a championship at the Western Iowa Conference meet, swept her three matches, including a pin of Ellie Hancock of Raccoon River-Northwest in 1:33. Allen is now 13-0 on the year.

The Lady Dawgs also got second-place finishes from Hailey Harvey (115) and Veronica Schechinger (130). Danika Feigenbutz (135), Ana Wilson (140) and Khloie Corum (190) were third.

Riverside was third, behind meet champion Raccoon River-Northwest and Carlisle, while Atlantic was 10th.
