REVISIT THE INFOGRAPHICS
At the end of this Learning Episode, I must be able to revisit the concept of learning
environment in the context of the current teaching and learning situation.
The classroom climate nurtures the intellectual, physical, social and emotional
development of the students.
Here are some specific strategies for developing the optimal classroom climate. You
may consider these.
1. Learning environment addresses both physical and psychological needs of the students
for security and order, love and belonging, personal power and competence, freedom
and fun.
2. Create a sense of order. For example, teacher should teach students how to
enter the classroom and become immediately engaged in the activity;
distribute and collect materials;
fond out missed assignments due to absence and how to make up for them;
get the teacher’s attention without disrupting the class and
arrange desks, tables quickly and quietly for various purposes.
3. Greet learners as they enter your face-to-face or on-pine classroom.
4. In a healthy and conducive learning environment, everybody belongs and knows each
other.
5. Encourage class building activities like games and team activities.
6. In a conducive learning environment, success whether small or big is recognized and
celebrated.
Both approaches, either the traditional face-to-face or on-line, lead to positive results
but in different ways, so usually in practice both approaches are combined.
What will you do to assist your mentor in setting up a conducive learning environment
in the following conditions:
1. Bulletin Board Display
-I will support my mentor in establishing a supportive learning environment by giving her
the advice she needs, extending her innovations that apply to the twenty-first century, and
offering similar ideas regarding a variety of issues. In order to establish a setting that is
favorable for learning, I will also assist my mentor by doing original research and
producing a poster. Since I am aware that a bulletin board can serve as "another teacher,"
reflecting new teachings and assisting students in comprehending new information, as well
as challenging them to engage in learning in novel ways.
2. Small Group Discussion
-I will ask my mentor for permission to lead and start this activity in order to help her lead
and start this small group conversation. I'll get all the relevant subjects and resources
ready. Additionally, I'll give them adequate time and room to collect their thoughts and
participate in conversations. It will help the students become more productive and
Learning Environment 1:
What have you noticed of the display in the class bulletin board? What message or
theme does it convey?
- It is expertly painted, with every edge of the paper cut with care. The title is clearly
visible and written in huge characters. The teacher chose vivid colors that were visible
from a distance and pulled the kids closer. It speaks directly to the students, instilling in
them the idea that they should be tenacious about completing their schoolwork
whenever they see it. They will be motivated to work hard in their studies in the hopes
that one day their name will be posted on the bulletin board.
What makes it attractive to the learners?
-It draws in students because it is visible from a distance, has big text, and uses vivid
colors. It interests me since it uses fun and instructive activities to inspire students.
Does in help in the learning process? How?
-Yes, as the teacher is monitoring their achievement by assigning grades for the 1st
quarter, it is evident when their names are listed on the bulletin board as awardees. If the
students are putting up their best effort, the teachers will be able to tell. Additionally, it
will identify the unique requirements and interests of the students, enabling them to
enhance the teaching-learning process for the benefit of both parties.
Learning Environment 2:
If the teacher is using a distance delivery of learning through the modules, where is
most likely the learning space of the students?
-For students, home is the most comfortable and safe location to learn. Parents receive
the module at school and are ultimately in charge of their children's education.
Can you describe?
-Home learning is meaningful, engaging, and fun. With their parents' help, student can
advance in their occupations and pick up new knowledge and skills. But the atmosphere
in which we learn, especially at home, needs to be favorable. It speaks to the actual
place where we reside; it needs to be warm, cozy, clean, and well-lit. It needs to be both
peaceful and kid-friendly in order to prevent distractions for the students.
How can you as a teacher help to make such environment conducive for learning?
-I may help them as a teacher by arranging a meeting and offering suggestions on how
to set up a favorable learning environment. In order to determine whether they have a
suitable learning environment, I will also pay them a visit at home. I will never get tired
of reminding parents to put their student’s educational needs first because I am a
teacher. Additionally, I'll ask the local government for help in this case so they can have
access to any supplies or technology and engage in a meaningful teaching-learning
process even from the comfort of their own home.
OBSERVE
What probable problem may result from the two situations of the learning environment?
*When it comes to online learning, the following are probable problems:
a. Time and location accessibility
b. Attendance of Students
c. Different Learning Styles
d. Problems with Technology
e. Power Interruption
*When it comes to face-to-face learning, the following are probable problems:
a. There is no such thing as flexible learning
b. Travel time from home to school
c. Inadequate learning resources
d. Allowances for expenses
e. Peer destruction
REFLECT
What solutions can I think of to solve the problem?
-As a teacher, my first responsibility is to visit the students in their homes and inquire about
their well-being and ways in which I may be of assistance. Secondly, it is my responsibility as
a teacher to have both a plan A and a plan B in place to accommodate every student's learning
style and needs. Third, I have to talk to the parents to find out about their position and current
circumstances. Fourthly, I must develop a creative and thoughtful mindset. Fifth, I have to put
in extra effort to understand my current line of work completely. Lastly, since I am
responsible for the students' future, I must be flexible in all I do.
