My ship doesn’t have inner gas system only gas freeing. Normally what we do

is to open the hatch cover or before that we check the gas inside first. In all
sounding pipes and temperature pipes there is gas release, so if we need to
freeing the gas we can use this gas release function. In the hatch cover also
there is gas release system.

The portable pumps we have on board are wildan pump. The operation is
using deck air pressure. The pump will be connected to this air hose and hose
for suction and ore hose for discharge.

The procedures for fixing gland packing on a valve gland are :
∙ We have to fitted the quite gate with a threadeal spindle that connect to the
valve system.
∙ We have to move the valve from close to fully open. It will take 18 to 30
turns of the hand to switch the valve from close to open.
∙ Make sure there isn’t any resistance to the flow of the oil when the valve in
the open position.
∙ Make sure the system of the valve gland is greased to avoid any corrosion
when it was used.

∙ Emergency Fire Pump : it is used on emergency if the Fire GS and Fire Bilge
Pump can’t be started to provide sea water on the fire hydrant.

In my ship, we are using eductors for stripping the ballast tank. When the main

pump doesn’t have any suction left then at that time we will change to eductor
pump to stripping the left over water until it is dry. The speed of the pump is
constant so we do not need to reduce the speed. What we do is just wait until
the water is no more left in the tank. When sounding is nill or zero then we
have to turn off the pump.

My ship is a container not a tanker vessel, so we never done any tank washing

we only doing hold cleanings. When we do this hold cleaning we use sea
water which us using fire hydrant water pressure and deck air. And also we
have fresh water machine, some times we used chemical using unitor chemical
machine which the chemical mixed with sea water and then using deck air
pressure to give spray to the gun.

In my vessel, we didn’t wash tanks but we are washing cargo hold, we use sea

water, chemical, and fresh water for the cleaning to make sure it is still dry we
kept open the hatch cover and look at the tank top if there is some water drops
or not. If there isn’t any then that means it is dry.

we don’t use Oil Discharged Monitoring System (ODME) system but when on
deck contents oil, we must use Oil Discharged Monitoring (ODME) system.
On engine department, we must use Oil Discharged Monitoring (ODME)
system because engine department always contents oil and maximum 15 ppm
on board my ship. But on tanker ship always use Oil Discharged Monitoring
System (ODME) system.

No, I haven’t. On board my ship, she only has portable oxygen analyser, so
when we wanted to go to enclosed space first we put this portable oxygen
analyser into the tank and wait about 5 minutes. If the level is ok then we can
start to go inside the tank.

: ∙ Drager x-am 2000.
The procedure is just press Ok or on button to start this device and wait
about 5 seconds to warm up.
∙ Q-Rae.
The procedure is press and hold the button to start the device it will need
10 seconds to warm up. When this instrument is on then it is ready to
detect the oxygen level.
