Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 12 servings

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried chives

  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ cup shortening

  • ¾ cup milk

  • ¼ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.

  2. Mix together flour, baking powder, chives, garlic salt, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture has only small lumps.

  3. Add milk and cheese; stir until moistened. Drop dough by heaping spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until golden, 12 to 15 minutes.
