Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 4 servings

  • 4 hoagie rolls

  • 1 Romaine lettuce heart (about 2 cups chopped)

  • 4 ounces thinly sliced Black Forest ham

  • 2 ounces sliced Genoa salami

  • 4 ounces sliced provolone cheese

  • 1 large tomato, sliced

  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced (about 1/2 cup)

  • 1/4 cup sliced jarred banana peppers

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Split each roll and scoop out inside, leaving a 1/2-inch shell.

  2. Arrange lettuce in an even layer on a large cutting board or work surface. Top evenly with ham, salami, cheese, tomato, onion, and banana peppers. Using a large knife, chop through ingredients until mixture is evenly chopped and combined.

  3. Whisk together mayonnaise, olive oil, vinegar, oregano, and black pepper in a small bowl. Pour over lettuce mixture; chop to combine. Spoon mixture into prepared rolls.
