The National Union (Portuguese:União Nacional; Portuguese pronunciation:[uniˈɐ̃w̃ nɐsiuˈnaɫ]) was the only legal political party in Portugal for most of the period of the Estado Novo. Ideologically, the National Union was an authoritarian, clerico-fascist organisation. It was dominated by António de Oliveira Salazar during most of its existence. Unlike in most single-party regimes, the National Union was more of a political arm of the government, rather than holding actual power over it.
History
The organization was founded in 1930 during the National Dictatorship period of 1928–33. Officially it was not a political party, but an "organisation of unity of all the Portuguese". For the next 43 years, it effectively held a monopoly of power in the Estado Novo. The opposition Movement of Democratic Unity was legal in 1945–48, but even then the political system was so heavily rigged that it had no realistic chance of winning.
The party won all seats in elections to the Portuguese National Assembly from 1934 to 1973. Opposition candidates were nominally allowed after 1945, but prematurely withdrew in the 1945 and 1973 elections. In 1970 – two years after Salazar had been replaced as leader and prime minister by Marcello Caetano – the name of the party was altered to Acção Nacional Popular (People's National Action), and subsequent to Salazar's retirement faced formal competition in the 1969 election, nevertheless winning all constituencies in a landslide.
The Union was formed in Geneva in 1932 by Georges Oltramare, a lawyer and writer. Noted for his anti-Semitic writing, Oltramare founded the Order Politique Nationale in 1931 but merged it with the Union de Défense Economique the following year to form the National Union. The group continued under Oltramare's leadership until 1940 when he moved to Paris in order to co-operate more closely with the Nazis. Oltramare spent four years as a member of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland representing the National Union.
The Union became notorious for a demonstration in Geneva on November 9, 1932 when their march to the city's Salle Communale was counterdemonstrated by the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland. In the resulting trouble the Swiss army opened fire on the Socialists resulting in 13 deaths.
It was originally called the Radical Party (Partido Radical) by one of its founders Manuel González Prada. That name seemed too confrontational to many in the party and thus it became known as the National Union. The party grew out of the Literary Circle and morphed into a political party in 1891.
One of the central reasons it formed was to create a party of ideas, avoiding the cult of personality that guided the more traditional parties. One of the ideas that guided it was the call for greater Europeanimmigration to Peru. Such a stance seems to be a paradox because many of its members defended Peru's Quechua speaking citizens. The only way to understand this paradox is to remember that the National Union was partly founded on the ideals of liberalism and that the Spanish language was the language of commerce.

Portuguese wine is the result of traditions introduced to the region by ancient civilizations, such as the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks, and mostly the Romans. Portugal started to export its wines to Rome during the Roman Empire. Modern exports developed with trade to England after the Methuen Treaty in 1703. From this commerce a wide variety of wines started to be grown in Portugal. And, in 1758, one of the first wine-producing region of the world, the Região Demarcada do Douro was created under the orientation of Marquis of Pombal, in the Douro Valley. Portugal has two wine producing regions protected by UNESCO as World Heritage: the Douro Valley Wine Region (Douro Vinhateiro) and Pico Island Wine Region (Ilha do Pico Vinhateira). Portugal has a big variety of local kinds, producing a very wide variety of different wines with distinctive personality.
History
Romans did much to expand and promote viticulture in their settlements in the province of Lusitania (mainly modern south Portugal). Wines were produced across the territory for both local consumption as well as export to Rome.

Participating in the world cups is not a problem for them. Having participated in many world cups since the 1930s, Sweden was second in the 1958 world cup, where it hosted its greatest success. Losing to Brazil in the final, Sweden was not very effective during the 60s, but the 70s were able to talk about themselves again. Now, as the 80s begin, they want to achieve a success worthy of their history in the 1982 world cup. But first they have to pass the qualifying groups. Have a good time :)

BLÅGULT !

Teresa Morales of the National Union of Community Museums, Mexico gives an introduction to Latin New Museology. The process of defining heritage is filled with power relations. Until recent years the term heritage has been used to refer to buildings, monuments and physical and tangible artefacts. Critics, often from non-Western countries, have called for a greater attention for intangible heritage, which represents their identities more strongly. New strategies that includes local communities within the process of heritage construction are currently being discussed. Cultural heritage as a collective responsibility enables communities to control their future by understanding their past.
In 2010 Framer Framed took the initative to organize a panel discussion on the politiacl process of defining heritage.
