It is also noted that Gilgamesh had to pass through Mount Mashu to reach Dilmun in the SumerianEpic of Gilgamesh, which is usually identified with the whole of the parallel Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon ranges, with the narrow gap between these mountains constituting the tunnel. Others believe Mount Mashu was one of two ("twin") mountains that held up the sky at the eastern and western extremities of the world. The Sumerian versions of the Gilgamesh epic demonstrate that the earlier versions of the myth sited the Cedar Mountain to the east, in the direction of the rising of Utu, the Sumerian sun god.
Bahrain (i/bɑːˈreɪn/; Arabic:البحرينal-Baḥrayn), officially the Kingdom of Bahrain (Arabic:مملكة البحرينMamlakat al-Baḥrayn), is a small island country situated near the western shores of the Persian Gulf in the Middle East. It is an archipelago with Bahrain Island, the largest land mass, at 55km (34mi) long by 18km (11mi) wide. Saudi Arabia lies to the west and is connected to Bahrain by the King Fahd Causeway while Iran lies 200km (124mi) to the north across the Persian Gulf. The peninsula of Qatar is to the southeast across the Gulf of Bahrain. The population in 2010 stood at 1,234,571, including 666,172 non-nationals.
Until very recently, the whole of Eastern Arabia, from southern Iraq to the mountains of Oman, was a place where people moved around, settled and married unconcerned by national borders. The people of Eastern Arabia shared a culture based on the sea; they are seafaring peoples.
The Arab States of the Persian Gulf are solely Eastern Arabia, the borders of the Arabic-speaking Gulf do not extend beyond Eastern Arabia. The modern-day states of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and UAE are the archetypal Gulf Arab states.Saudi Arabia is often considered a Gulf Arab state although most Saudis do not live in Eastern Arabia.
Historically, a civilization was a so-called "advanced" culture in contrast to more supposedly primitive cultures. In this broad sense, a civilization contrasts with non-centralized tribal societies, including the cultures of nomadic pastoralists or hunter-gatherers. As an uncountable noun, civilization also refers to the process of a society developing into a centralized, urbanized, stratified structure.
Civilization: The Card Game is a card game designed by Civilization IV lead designer Soren Johnson, based on Civilization IV. It was developed in 2006 by Firaxis Games, as a bonus in the Sid Meier's Civilization Chronicles boxed set (a collection of every Civilization series game up to that point), and is not available independently.
Overview
Civilization: The Card Game simulates the rise of empires as in the computer game Civilization. Players will collect resources, obtain plots of land, construct Buildings and Wonders, discover Technologies, and fight each other on their way to victory. The game ends when the final Technology is bought. The player with the most Victory Points (one each per Wonder, Technology, and Population) is declared the Winner, with tiebreakers found in number of technologies, and then number of populations acquired, and then the number of Wonders.
Gameplay
Card Types
Plot Cards provide the basis for the game's economy. The cards each show a symbol ("Coin" for commerce, "Hammer" for production, and "Wheat" for food) and a number. Each turn, players will get the yield specified on each card plus bonuses for population cards on that plot. Players begin with four plot cards, but additional plot cards can be purchased for 15 resources (any combination of the three resources totallying 15) for the fifth plot, and then increasing by an additional 5 resources thereafter. (The sixth plot costs 20, seventh 25, and so on). Each plot may hold one "building" card (i.e. Library, Forge, Pyramids) unless the player has the Engineering technology or three Population Cards on that plot, in which case it can hold two Buildings. At any given time, there should be three plot cards shown face up that are available for purchase.
NASA's $1 Billion Mission To Search For Life On Titan, Explained
NASA plans to send an unmanned drone to Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. Titan resembles an early Earth in several ways, containing a thick atmosphere, liquid lakes and rivers on its surface, and an underground ocean of water. So researchers think it might have the ingredients for alien life.

Eridu Genesis | The Sumerian Epic of Creation
The Sumerian Flood Story (also known as the Eridu Genesis, Sumerian Creation Myth, Sumerian Deluge Myth) is the oldest Mesopotamian text relating the tale of the Great Flood which would appear in later works such as the Atrahasis (17th century BCE) and The Epic of Gilgamesh (c. 2150-1400 BCE).
The tale is also – most famously – told as the story of Noah and his ark from the biblical Book of Genesis (earliest possible date c. 1450 BCE, latest, c. 800-600 BCE). The story is dated to c. 2300 BCE in its written form but is thought to be much older, preserved by oral tradition until committed to writing.
The extant work is badly damaged, with a number of significant lines missing, but can still be read and easily understood as an early Great Flood story. Scholars who have studied the text gen...

JWST Reveals Titan's Hidden Surface for Nuclear Helicopter to Explore
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), has used infrared light to pierce the high level orange haze that shrouds Saturn's largest moon, Titan. Even with Webb's enormous mirror, its resolution cannot match maps of the surface that Cassini created before its demise. NASA will return to Titan in 2034 with Dragonfly, a nuclear powered copter, that will fly across the surface and search for the chemical signature of life. Dragonfly is a New Horizons project being developed by John Hopkins APL. After Dragonfly NASA hopes to explore the the methane seas of Titan with a submarine.

The extant work is badly damaged, with a number of significant lines missing, but can still be read and easily understood as an early Great Flood story. Scholars who have studied the text generally rely on the later Akkadian/Babylonian Atrahasis – which tells the same tale – to fill in the blanks of missing text from the broken tablet. The story most likely influenced the Egyptian “flood story” known as The Book of the Heavenly Cow (dated, in part, to the First Intermediate Period of Egypt, 2181-2040 BCE) but certainly was the inspiration for the later Mesopotamian works as well as the biblical narrative of Noah.
The story was first discovered in 1893, during the period of widespread expeditions and excavations throughout Mesopotamia funded by western institutions. The good man in this version of the tale, chosen to survive the flood and preserve life on earth, is the Priest-King Ziudsura of the city of Suruppak (whose name means “life of long days”). This same figure appears as Atrahasis (“exceedingly wise”) in the later work that bears his name, as Utnapishtim (“he found life”) in The Epic of Gilgamesh, and as Noah (“rest” or “peace”) in the Book of Genesis.

Bahrain: The Tiny Island Playing a Big Role in the Middle East
You could say Bahrain punches above its weight: it’s a tiny island nation in the Middle East, but it plays a huge role when it comes to countering Iran, partnering with the U.S. Navy and reshaping the political landscape in the Middle East. I traveled to the capital of Manama to learn more about the small kingdom’s role on the global stage.
I’m Shelby Holliday, a reporter for WSJ. Subscribe to join me as I explain some of today's most pressing geopolitical events, from superpower showdowns and conflicts to supply chain snarls and natural resource struggles.

Bahrain was built thanks to its gas and oil resources but today the reserves are running out and the country must reinvent itself. It plans to do this by attracting investors from all over the world. Here there is no corporate tax, no income tax and no VAT. Bahrain is in the middle of a real estate frenzy, constructing artifi cial islands and ultra modern skyscrapers. It sees itself as the new, more liberated Dubai.
But behind this facade of tolerance lies a darker reality. The predominantly Shi’ite population is ruled with an iron fist by the Sunni minority, headed by the Al Khalifa royal family. All Shi’ite political opposition is severely repressed and their leaders imprisoned.

NASA's $1 Billion Mission To Search For Life On Titan, Explained

Bahrain historically was known for its pearl industry. Today its a financial hub, tourist and party place. On top of that Bahrain has some amazing forts and museums. #traveldocumentary

Located in the Persian Gulf, off the coast of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the Kingdom of Bahrain is the smallest and most surprising country in the Middle East. Here, homosexuality is legal, alcohol flows freely, other religions practiced and women live freely. Little wonder the island has become the party capital of the Middle East, particularly for young Saudis…
