As the campers build their own bikes using supplies from a pile of old bike parts and then race them in a dangerous motor cross, one person takes somebody who has never learned how to build or ride a bike on a joy ride. In the end, one camper betrays their servant, leading to an explosive elimination.
Plot[]
The episode opens the day after Bridgette's elimination, with the remaining campers hanging out by Lake Wawanakwa, relaxing and throwing a frisbee around, while Heather and Lindsay are lounging on the dock. When a fly hovers around Lindsay and Heather, Lindsay tries to hit it with a fly swatter. When the fly lands on Heather's face, Lindsay accidentally smacks Heather in the face, clearly upsetting her. Heather asks Lindsay for the fly swatter, which she later uses to hit Lindsay repeatedly the face in retaliation. She then lifts her foot and orders Lindsay to cut her toenails, which is particularly disturbing. Meanwhile, Geoff is heard in the confessional crying about Bridgette, and the boys go to check on him. Gwen notices this and asks aloud when Duncan started having feelings. Heather replies that it is all because of his guys' alliance, knowing that Duncan is no fool and needs Geoff's vote to be in the game. Lindsay than suggests to Heather that they form a girls' alliance as well, but Heather dismisses the idea with a slap in Lindsay's face.
Geoff |
“ | [singing, crying] Baby, come back! Any kind of fool could see! S-Something… something, uh… about you! Hey, Bridge! Sendin' out mucho love to… wherever it is that the Boat of Losers takes you! | ” |
Duncan, DJ and Owen comfort Geoff and try to make sure he stays in their alliance, but Geoff is still sad about Bridgette's elimination. As he seems unsure about his role in the alliance, Geoff suddenly smells bacon and realizes that he may have missed breakfast. As Geoff runs off, Duncan remarks that he thinks Geoff is still in the alliance.
Over the loudspeaker, Chris tells the campers to meet at the Arts and Crafts Center for their next challenge. As Chris greets them, Duncan points out that it is more of an "Arts and Crap Center". Chris explains that it used to be an outhouse, but now it's where Chef parks his Road-Hog. Although all the males are in awe of Chef's motorcycle, the females are not interested. Chris tells them that they are to build their own bikes with materials from the bike depot and trick them out with props from the Arts and Crafts Center. As Chris rides off on his ATV, he also throws a bike manual to the campers. Heather throws the manual to Izzy when she notices the mold growing on it, exclaiming, "Eww, it's hairy!" Izzy, on the other hand, thinks the mold spores are cool, prompting Heather to call her a freak. Heather is also the one who makes the first move.
Duncan |
“ | Finally, a challenge I can get behind. I used to build bikes back home with my brothers all the time. Okay, so I used to steal them from the dweebs down the street and crash them into the school wall, but point is, this is something I know. | ” |
Owen declares that he's going to build his dream bike, while Lindsay begins to talk about how she's asked for a "Sunset Sally" bike every Christmas, but has never gotten one. Owen and DJ cry over the fact that Santa never got Lindsay her Christmas wish, but Duncan just scoffs at them and reminds them that this isn't a Christmas wish challenge. Geoff then arrives and the guys act excited about their alliance when it is revealed that Heather has been eavesdropping on their conversation.
Heather |
“ | The guys think they're so stealth, building their little alliances. It's kinda cute, really, but why work on your own bike when you can get someone to do it for you. | ” |
As Leshawna comforts Lindsay, Heather pulls Lindsay aside and tells her to disassemble Chef's bike so she can use the pieces to soup up her own bike and gain an advantage in the competition. Although Lindsay questions this and even points out that she needs to build her own bike, Heather tries to convince her that she can't save Lindsay unless Heather wins herself, saying, "We're BFFs, remember? Would I steer you wrong?"
Lindsay |
“ | Okay, maybe I'm naive [sic], but Heather’s always been trustworthy to me before… That I know of. | ” |
Heather puts Lindsay in the Arts and Crafts Center with a wrench in her hand and closes the door, telling the other girls that they have to wait their turn. Heather is then pelted with bird droppings and runs screaming past the girls as Gwen says, "Gotta love karma".
The guys are working on their bikes: Duncan hammers a wheel; DJ puts on protective gear; Geoff draws a picture of Bridgette; and Owen pumps up a tire as the guys focus on their bikes. Owen then pours gas on a nearby seagull, which falls over lifeless. He inches up to it and kicks it out of everyone's sight, whistling as if nothing had happened. Leshawna then holds up a bike pedal and wonders where it even goes, so Gwen asks if she's ever ridden a bike, and Leshawna replies that she has, but she's never built one. Gwen points out that she'd better start reading the manual, since the guys have an alliance going and Heather is clearly working with Lindsay. Izzy calls Leshawna as Gwen leaves, since she has already finished building her bike. Although Leshawna wonders how she did it so fast, Izzy tells her about her brother who used to be a mechanic before he got run over and developed a fear of motor vehicles. Izzy's offer is accepted by Leshawna.
Leshawna |
“ | That girl might be crazy, but I wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to win this race. Her bike looked fine! | ” |
Izzy points out how Leshawna's extra weight can help with their pace when they get on the bike, and Leshawna says that she'll take it as a compliment. Izzy starts peddling and, as they immediately speed up, Leshawna begins screaming, all before they go downhill.
At the arts and crafts center, Lindsay discovers a rag doll, which she holds by the hair, and shows it to Heather, believing it to be an "ugly doll with pretty hair," just like Heather — which Lindsay meant in a good way — and that she wants to use it to decorate her bike. Heather pretends to be amused by Lindsay's comment and brushes it off with a fake laugh, but reminds her to finish her bike first to protect Lindsay from the vote.
Lindsay |
“ | I think sometimes I say the wrong thing. One time, I told my math teacher that his new hairpiece looked like my dog's butt, but he totally took it the wrong way. My dog has the cutest curly little butt! It was a compliment! This other time, I got caught in a three-way calling attack and I told one friend that the other was cheating on her boyfriend or something… Anyways, she totally got dumped that day. It was so random! I wonder if it had something to do with the call… | ” |
Elsewhere, DJ tests his bike helmet by banging his head against a tree. When the other guys start talking about their first bike rides, each one talks about the gruesome injuries they suffered:
- Duncan proudly explains how he wiped out so badly that he popped his collarbone, adding, "You could see it sticking right out of my shoulder, that was wicked." Hearing this, DJ grabs his shoulder in obvious concern.
- Geoff then says that he flew so far over his handlebars that he skidded for a mile, laughing as he adds, "Skin was hanging off me in chunks". DJ then looks down at his own hand in disgust.
- Owen finds Geoff's story humorous, saying it's nothing, and compares it to when he popped his arm right out of the socket, "It took three doctors to hold me down while they slingshot it back into place," making DJ sweat nervously.
As the guys admire their stories, they all say together, "Ah, good times!" DJ then takes off his bike helmet and replaces it with a knight's helmet. Over the loudspeaker, Chris again announces that the campers should meet him at the Arts and Crafts to have their bikes judged:
- Chris compliments Heather's "Speed Machine" by saying it has excellent aerodynamics. Heather replies, "It only weighs two ounces," but Gwen interjects, "Like her brain," much to Heather's annoyance.
- He then walks over to Gwen's bike and says, "Spooky, yet practical. Well done."
- As Chris looks over Duncan's head ornament, he compliments his "Lethal Weapon" by adding, "Wicked Mad Max mobile, dude!"
- When he checks out Lindsay's "Sunset Sally," she tells him to ring the bell. When he does, however, she says, "The real bike has sound effects like this," and begins to neigh like a horse.
- Looking over DJ's bike, Chris notices that DJ is wearing multiple layers of protection and comments, "Dude, seriously? This is lame," leaving DJ embarrassed.
- He then compliments Geoff on his bike. Geoff simply tears up as he explains, "I call her Bridgette".
Geoff |
“ | Bridgette! Bridgette, I'm sorry. I should've made them vote someone else off, I… Even though you were stinking, you were also kind of a threat because, you know, you're nice and totally athletic and hot and stuff. Forgive me, Bridgette! | ” |
- Owen rides up to Chris on his "Fun Machine" and after saying he did a good job, Chris suddenly notices the absence of Izzy and Leshawna. The two are then shown falling down a hill while screaming, Leshawna out of fear and Izzy out of joy.
Chris then announces a twist, explaining that the campers will be swapping bikes for the race. This clearly upsets the campers and also foils Heather's plans. Back on the beach, Chris explains how the race works. Everyone has to pick a name out of a helmet to see whose bike they're riding. If a camper's bike makes it across the finish line, that camper gets to ride it in the final round for invincibility. Although Heather is not happy with her choice, Lindsay tells her that she got Heather's bike, giving Heather a new advantage. Heather tells Lindsay, "If you cross the finish line on my bike, then I get to ride for invincibility." Heather goes on to tell Lindsay to push the red button on her bike if it looks like she's losing. When Chris asks again about Izzy and Leshawna, they are both shown riding bikes on the water, with Leshawna basically screaming the whole time.
The following bikes were ridden in the race:
- Lindsay rides Heather's "Speed Machine".
- Owen rides Duncan's "Lethal Weapon".
- Geoff gets Gwen's spooky bike.
- DJ rides Geoff's "Bridgette".
- Gwen gets Owen's "Fun Machine".
- Heather rides DJ's bike.
- Duncan rides Lindsay's "Sunset Sally".
When the race starts, Owen and Heather are left behind. Owen is left because he can't figure out how to move the bike, and Heather is left because the bike literally won't move. As Gwen pedals her bike through Duncan's dust, Lindsay easily passes both of them. DJ has no trouble with the bike at first, but suddenly it starts to fall apart.
Geoff |
“ | Okay, so I forgot the bolts. | ” |
This causes both of them to crash painfully into a pile of bike parts. Then Heather shows up and pushes the bike by hand, unaware of the mess DJ and Geoff have made in front of her, causing her to crash as well. Still stuck, Owen finally figures out that if he pulls on the hood ornament, the bike will automatically drive itself at high speed. Lindsay, Duncan and Gwen are then seen crossing the finish line, giving Heather, Lindsay, Owen and Duncan a spot in the final race for invincibility. Leshawna and Izzy are then shown racing out of a large thorn bush with a chipmunk on Leshawna's head. Izzy is shown pedaling so fast that the chipmunk's fur is blown off in one piece, and it is blown off Leshawna's head as well, while Leshawna is still screaming.
As Owen and Lindsay chat before the race, Duncan grabs Owen by the ear and tells him to focus, threatening to kick his butt "into next week," which Owen agrees to. Chris then arrives on his ATV to explain the rules. The campers have to ride their own bikes around the course, avoiding all the hidden pitfalls. This includes dodging land mines, maneuvering through an oil slick, and jumping over a pool of piranhas. The first contestant to cross wins invincibility, and the last contestant to cross is voted out without going to the campfire ceremony. Heather then explains her plans to Lindsay, saying that they have to stick together so that one of them wins the race. She then tells Lindsay to go first to clear a path through the mines, go through the oil slick so she knows how to get through it, and keep the piranhas busy while she speeds through. Although Lindsay explains that this will result in Heather winning and not her, Heather just acts like it's the right thing to do and fools Lindsay just like she planned.

The four remaining campers start the challenge, but Owen immediately crashes when he hits a land mine. The remaining three continue, but when Duncan passes the mines and hits the oil slick, he crashes when he loses control of his bike's handlebars. Lindsay, on the other hand, is blown right past the land mines and easily passes through the oil slick while doing a wheelie. At the same time, she clears a path for Heather with her bike's horsetail broom. When Lindsay reaches the piranha pool, she stops at the edge of the pool, just in time to avoid the piranhas. Heather, right behind her, presses the red button on her bike and flies over the last obstacle with Lindsay. Heather crosses the finish line, giving herself the invincibility while Lindsay rushes over to celebrate their safety.
Chris suddenly interrupts and explains that since Duncan and Owen didn't technically finish the race, Lindsay is actually the last one to cross the finish line, which means she is eliminated. Heather then explains that she can't use her invincibility to save Lindsay because it would be too risky. As Heather starts to walk away, Lindsay grabs her arm and says, "But I won, I even built your bike!" But Heather laughs it off and pretends she doesn't know what Lindsay is talking about, suggesting that Lindsay should just leave with her dignity intact. Lindsay then points out that they were supposed to go to the final three together, but Heather clearly doesn't care. Lindsay then asks if she's even sad, explaining that they're BFFs. Heather replies that it was just for the competition, and that they weren't going to be "best friends for life".
Lindsay |
“ | I can't believe she said that! | ” |
Lindsay is shocked and even mentions how they pinky swore, but Heather then shocks Lindsay even more, "Uhm, truth? Not really, no. What? We're not here to make friends, we're here to become celebrities, remember?"
The campers are clearly upset by this, even Duncan points out that her actions are "cold". Heather then turns on Duncan, saying that he scares them all a lot, to which Duncan remarks that at least he is honest with people. Heather then starts to walk away again, "Whatever, I have invincibility. No one can touch me," with Gwen noting that she's only immune for "this week". Lindsay, enraged, lashes out at Heather, cursing, flipping off and calling her names, with most of what she says being censored. Lindsay goes on to say that she stuck up for Heather because she thought they were BFFs, but realizes that everyone is right and continues to repeat everything she just said to Heather, which is again censored. Her curse causes everyone to be surprised and shocked by Lindsay's comments at first, but later they all start teasing Heather and cheering for Lindsay. Suddenly, Izzy and Leshawna race by Gwen, with Leshawna screaming to get off as the two fall into the lake.
Lindsay |
“ | I don't know what came over me — oh, wait, yes I do! Heather's a total— [censor beep]! | ” |
Lindsay |
“ | I don't know what came over me — oh, wait, yes I do! Heather's a total no good, selfish—! | ” |
As Lindsay gets ready to leave, she says goodbye to Gwen and Leshawna — she calls them "Greta" and "Lequisha" because she can't remember their names — and thanks them for all their support. Leshawna tells Lindsay that they would have kept her on if they could have. Lindsay thanks her again and asks Leshawna to kick Heather's butt for her, to which Leshawna happily agrees to do. She says goodbye to the others and tells Owen that she will miss him the most. Owen breaks down in tears and hugs her, saying he'll miss her too. Finally, Lindsay tells Heather that she hopes she gets everything her karma owes her. She boards the boat and the other campers, except for Heather, all wave goodbye as the boat speeds off into the sunset, ending the episode.

Trivia[]
General[]
- The bike switches were:
- Gwen gets Owen's.
- Owen gets Duncan's.
- Duncan gets Lindsay's.
- Lindsay gets Heather's.
- Heather gets DJ's.
- DJ gets Geoff's.
- Geoff gets Gwen's.
- As of this episode, Heather is the only remaining member of her alliance left on the show.
- With Lindsay's elimination, both contestants voiced by Stephanie Anne Mills have been eliminated.
- Lindsay's long-censored curse at Heather was replaced in the Cartoon Network and Netflix versions of the episode with her calling Heather a "no good, selfish, heartless, pushy, bossy, mean, bully of a girl!" though, this was not the case for Netflix prior to 2015, as well as many other instances of mildly mature content throughout the series.
Continuity[]
- Lindsay is the first camper not to leave the island at night.
- This is the first episode where someone leaves the island without a campfire ceremony.
- This is the first episode of the series to feature a contestant being eliminated via sudden death.
- Heather wins solo invincibility by herself for the third time in a row.
- This is the first episode where the campers miss the challenge before it even begins.
- This is the second time Lindsay has accidentally hit Heather while trying to swat a fly, and Heather thinks Lindsay did it on purpose.
- Leshawna happily complied when Lindsay told her to kick Heather's butt. Later in the series, Leshawna finally did kick Heather's butt.
- When Lindsay tells Heather: "I hope you get everything your karma owes you," it actually foreshadows a future episode.
- Coincidentally, the accident is indirectly caused by Lindsay. This is further foreshadowed when Lindsay indirectly calls Heather an "ugly doll with pretty hair."
References[]
- The title of this episode may be a reference to the slang term "That's off the hook."
- The song Geoff sings in the confession booth is similar to the song "Baby Come Back" by the group Player.
- Chris makes references to several of Mel Gibson's movies when talking about Duncan's bike.
- When Chris first sees it after Duncan finishes it, he calls it the "Mad Max-mobile," referring to the Mad Max series.
- Later, just before Owen completes the first round on Duncan's bike, Chris refers to it as "Duncan's lethal weapon," in reference to the Lethal Weapon series.
- Before the final race, Chris announced that the loser would be voted out immediately and there would be "no bonfire, do not pass go, do not collect a marshmallow". This is a reference to the Monopoly community chance/chest card that says "GO TO JAIL: Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200."
Goofs[]
- When Duncan leaves to check on Geoff, Leshawna says, "Wait, what about our game?" with her lips don't move until seconds after she starts speaking.
- Duncan's bike had an engine, although Heather had the only access to an engine, which Lindsay took from Chef Hatchet's hot rod to build her bike.
- Although he pronounces it correctly later, at the end of the Invincibility Race, Chris pronounces motocross as motorcross even though the portmanteau isn't spelled with the r from the first word, motor.
- Chris refers to the first race as the invincibility race when he announces the four winning bikes, but the "TDI Motocross" challenge was the invincibility race.
- Even more, losing the first race made DJ, Geoff, and Gwen exempt from elimination, making Chris' reference to the first race as the invincibility race even more nonsensical.
- Before the start of TDI Motocross, Duncan grabs Owen's ear, but until he grabs it, Owen's ear is missing.
- Gwen is missing when the contestants, minus Izzy and Leshawna, are lined up to race.
- When Heather argues with Lindsay about why she should help her win, Heather says that if Lindsay comes in second, Owen or Duncan will be voted out, and they will have to go through another campfire ceremony. All of this is said right after Chris explains that there will be no vote or campfire ceremony.
- It is even proven that she is not just trying to trick Lindsay, but actually thought that her getting second might have that result when she states in the confessional that she had no way of knowing that Lindsay would actually get second.
- Heather later tells Lindsay that she can almost taste the marshmallows, although Chris also added that there wouldn't even be marshmallows.
- When Duncan's bike slides on the oil slick and falls over, his bike is nowhere to be seen when he is shown on the ground.
- Oddly enough, Geoff's bike doesn't break when someone sits on it, even though its main support is thin branches.
- Chris says that Owen and Duncan didn't technically cross the finish line at all, even though Owen did technically cross the finish line because he was blown directly over it at the start of the race. However, Chris may have meant directly touching the finish line, which Owen did not do.
- Chef can be seen standing next to Chris when Lindsay starts swearing. However, when she swears a second time and Chris is smiling, Chef is nowhere to be seen.
- When Chris checks out Duncan's bike, it has pedals. However, when Owen rides it, it lacks pedals and uses a hood ornament instead.
- When Owen gasps as Lindsay curses at Heather, his animation pauses for a split second before the shot changes.
