- "A direct fleet assault would be suicide. Shields are useless against asteroid strikes. The station can target and destroy large vessels easily. But an assault shuttle could evade the asteroids and deliver a commando team to destroy Hammer Station from the inside."
- ―Satele Shan
Around 3643 BBY,[6] during the Cold War, a battle occurred aboard the battle station known as Hammer Station. Hammer Station was designed by the Galactic Republic and was thought to have been destroyed during the Great Galactic War, but was instead seized by the Advozse Hegemony looking to grow their territory. During the Cold War, these Advozsec used the station's gravity cannon to help them gain control over neutral worlds in the Outer Rim Territories. The expansion campaign eventually came to the attention of the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, both of which dispatched agents to the station in order to seize it for their respective faction. The Sith strike force was directed by Darth Malgus and the Republic strike force was commanded by Satele Shan, both leaders were opposed by the Advozse Battlelord Kreshan.

The Old Republic—The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY.
