Lowak is the second episode of the first season of Echo.
Synopsis[]
Maya enlists the help of her disapproving family to take down Fisk's army. Meanwhile, she begins experiencing strange visions.
Plot[]
In 1200 Alabama, the tribes of Choctaw and Cherokee compete in a match of ishtaboli to decide which tribe gets to stay on the land. The Choctaw gets an upper hand, but the Cherokee manages a comeback by releasing Totsuwa, their strongest member. In a last ditch effort to win the match, Lowak summons the supernatural powers of Chafa, which allows her to bring the victory to the Choctaw.
In the present, Biscuits brings Maya Lopez some snacks, and when she asks if he can drive the truck off-road, Biscuits says that Chula Battiest would never let him. Lopez then gives him a list of items she needs him to bring, prompting Biscuits to doubt if Lopez's intentions are legal. Biscuits visits Skully at his pawn shop where he picks up some items from him, including a miniature camera. When he returns, Lopez convinces him to go with her on a ride, although he is supposed be at a supper with Chula.
Chula with other Choctaw residents prepare for the upcoming powwow, and Chula finds out that Lopez had been spotted in Tamaha. She comes to see Henry Lopez telling him that she knows that Lopez is back, and asks what is she after. Henry replies that her intentions are something he cannot help her with, and Chula expresses her concern that Lopez's influence might affect Biscuits. Henry suggests that she might be just passing by, and Chula hopes that he is right and Bonnie will not find out about her.
At night, Lopez and Biscuits drive up to a railroad, where she drops by on the passing train, getting Biscuits to follow her on the truck. She evades the guards on the train and uses the camera to find the car she has been looking for. She does what she wanted with the load and gets out, however, her prosthetic leg gets stuck in a coupling mechanism. To her confusion, Lopez summons the powers of Chafa and Lowak that allow her to get her leg out and signals Biscuits to follow the train and help her get out. With his truck severely damaged, Biscuits chides Lopez for her recklessness and asks if what she wanted to steal was worth it, but Lopez replies that she did not steal anything.
The train arrives to the Fisk Shipping Yard in New York City, where Zane and the Black Knife Cartel receive their arms shipment. However, the homemade bomb that Lopez left in the car detonates, destroying the weapons and killing numerous cartel members. Henry gets informed of the incident in the morning and when he finds out which car was detonated, he tells his employees to stay quiet and texts Lopez that they need to have a talk.
Lopez meets with Skully and asks her if he can help with an upgrade for her prosthetic leg, to which he agrees and says that he missed her around. While Skully works, Lopez converses with Henry on her war against Kingpin's men, arguing that they will not be a problem without their armory. Receiving a temporary replacement, Lopez notices a figurine of Chafa and Skully tells her that Chula traces her lineage up to the first Choctaw, suggesting to talk to her about it.
Biscuits brings a damaged truck to repair, although he fails to do it without Chula noticing, and tries to sell his PlayStation 4 on a radio to pay for it. Bonnie finds out and contacts Biscuits, asking him what happened, and Biscuits let it slip that Lopez is in town. Meanwhile, Henry meets with Lopez personally tells her off for swinging at Kingpin's men, but Lopez dismisses his concerns and says that she has a strategy for her war. She asks Henry to join her cause, but he only tells her to lay low while he figures out how to clean the whole mess. Henry drives away, leaving Lopez behind, while she receives a message from Bonnie asking her if she is back.
