Maya is the fifth and final episode of the first season of Echo.
Synopsis[]
The lives of Maya's family hang in the balance as Fisk's army invades the Choctaw Nation powwow.
Plot[]

Years ago, Maya Lopez shoots a woodpecker with a slingshot and brings it to Taloa Lopez, lying that she just found it falling from the tree. Talos sees through her daughter's lie, so Lopez admits that she only wanted to see if she could hit the bird, she did not want to hurt it. Taloa tells Lopez an old Choctaw belief about woodpeckers who used to warn the tribes about approaching enemies. Lopez asks if they can fix the woodpecker and witnesses Taloa using her powers to heal the bird.

Chula Battiest visits Skully at his pawn shop, asking if he still had the old sewing machine she brought to him. Skully brings the sewing machine and tells Chula that he kept it off the shelves and maintained it, knowing that she would come back for it eventually. Chula appreciates the gesture and goes to her work at United States Postal Service, where she drops a few envelopes. Wilson Fisk helps her pick up the envelopes and the two talk about the upcoming powwow. Fisk notices Chula's necklace with ASL writing on it and as they chat about learning sign language, Fisk realizes that Chula is Lopez's grandmother.

Lopez drives away from Tamaha and stops at a Roxxon Gas Station, where she discards the Translator Contact Lens that Fisk gives her. During a preparation for the powwow, Biscuits texts Lopez, asking where she is but Lopez ignores him. But after noticing the woodpecker outside the diner, Lopez suspects something and checks Biscuits' messages again, seeing that he had not seen Chula or Bonnie for a long while. Lopez immediately returns to the town and enters the house, where she is met by the manifestation of Taloa. She reaches to Lopez's heart and urges her not to run away and fight, promising that her ancestors will be on her side, before showing Lopez the suit that Chula made for her.

During the powwow, Zane and the Black Knife Cartel blend in with other guests, while Lopez secretly arrives as well to find Chula and Bonnie. Henry Lopez calls Biscuits and finds out about the suspicious men at the powwow, warning him that things are about to get dangerous. Lopez walks into the barn, where she confronts Fisk, but he then shows her that he has Chula and Bonnie as his hostages. Lopez pleads with Fisk to let her family go, but Fisk only replies that she brought it upon herself when she betrays him, so he is going to kill them just like he killed her father.

Surrounded by Fisk's men, Lopez calls upon her ancestors and lends her powers to Chula and Bonnie, so all three of them could fight back. Meanwhile, Biscuits runs over the Cartel members on his monster truck, and Henry kills Zane right before his attack on the powwow. Fisk attempts to fight Lopez on his own, however, she uses his powers on him and makes Fisk relieve his childhood trauma, transporting him into his old house, where he hears his father abusing his mother. Fisk is deeply disturbed, but Lopez shows up and urges Fisk to let go of the pain inside of him. He cannot let go and reaches for his hammer, but Lopez asks him to give it to her.
She then ends the ritual and Fisk orders his men to retreat right before the police's arrival, being deeply distraught by the experience. With her hometown safe, Lopez drives up to the house and joins her family for a dinner. Meanwhile, Fisk watches the news report about the upcoming political race for the Mayor of New York City, and takes interest in participating.
