"I've got eyes on a possible person of interest. Initiating foot pursuit."
Maria Hill to Nick Fury[src]

The Chase of G'iah was a mission, undertaken by Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Talos to track down G'iah and intercept the bombs, ordered by the Skrull Resistance.

Background[]

"Gravik has something very big up his sleeve. But the immediate threat remains the bombs. Five specialists in Moscow are capable of building such an explosive. My money's on this one. Vasily Poprishchin. Former Chechnyan rebel, owns a high-end gallery in the city center, restores pigmented paintings and radioactivated bombs."
Sonya Falsworth to "Derrik Weatherby"[src]

Frustrated by Nick Fury and Carol Danvers not fulfilling their promise to find a new home for Skrulls, Gravik usurped Talos' place in the Skrull Council and started rallying his fellow Skrulls to rebel against humans and take over Earth. A newly-found Skrull Resistance proceed to kidnap various high-ranked figures and plant their operatives in their place, causing chaos around the globe through their false-flag operations. Seeking to start a termonuclear war between Russia and the United States of America, the Resistance planned to use Americans Against Russia as the front and instigate a terroristic attack in Moscow.

Prescod and Ross on Ground

"Everett Ross" is attacked by Donald Prescod

Following a raid of a weapon cache in Kazakhstan, the Resistance acquired materials for the dirty bombs, however, their plans were uncovered by Donald Prescod. The Resistance sent a Skrull, disguised as Everett Ross, to cover it up, however he attracted the attention of Talos and Maria Hill, which prompted them to contact Fury and bring him back to Earth. While investigating the Resistance's plans, Fury was captured by MI6, as Sonya Falsworth was also appointed to unravel Gravik's schemes. As working together was not an option, Fury secretly planted a bug on her owl clock to spy on Falsworth, while she was reporting her discoveries, namely the supposed involvement of Vasily Poprishchin.[1]

Secret Invasion Featurette (2)

Nick Fury threatens "Vasily Poprishchin"

"How about a dirty bomb? Or you keep that in a crate in here somewhere?"
"I'm sorry, I do not know this term. Dirty bomb?"
"Boom, goes the dynamite! Lie number two. I just told you. Everybody gets one, nobody gets two."
Nick Fury and "Vasily Poprishchin"[src]

G'iah was ordered by Gravik and Pagon to go to Vasily Poprishchin's gallery in Moscow and collect the bombs. She was tailed by two MI6 agents, sent by Sonya Falsworth, but Talos impersonated one of them, and neutralized the second agent. As G'iah collected the bombs from "Vasily Poprishchin" and left, Talos and Nick Fury confronted him, while Maria Hill spotted G'iah and went on to pursue her. Fury interrogated "Poprishchin" about the bombs and threatened to shoot him, but "Poprishchin" kept pretending that he did not know anything. "Poprishchin" then was attacked by Talos, so both of them started fighting, realizing that each of them were fighting a Skrull. "Poprishchin" was able to overpower Talos, accusing him of being a traitor, but was then gunned down by Fury.

Secret Invasion D23 Trailer (38)

Maria Hill pursues G'iah

Meanwhile, Hill followed G'iah overpowered, where she was ambushed by G'iah and defeated, before Talos found Hill. Talos confronted G'iah and tried to reason with her, saying that Soren would not want any of that to happen, but G'iah did not want to listen. Talos then unloaded his gun and revealed to G'iah that her mother was murdered and the Resistance was involved, which was a shock for her. He tried to convince G'iah to hand over the bombs and promised to protect her, to which G'iah replied that Talos cannot protect anything. G'iah pushed him away and left the underground, while still contemplating the revelation that her mother was dead.[1]

Aftermath[]

Talos and G'iah

G'iah informs Talos about Gravik's plans

"The attack is planned for tomorrow. Unity Day. There are three bombs. And Gravik knows you'll be there."
G'iah to Talos[src]

Back at New Skrullos, G'iah handed the bombs over to Pagon and informed him that she was being tailed, but did not give away any names. She suggested postponing the attack, but Pagon said that it was even more beneficial to them, now that they have the bait. G'iah then had a secret meeting with Talos and talked to him about Soren and her demise by Gravik's hands. She then informed Talos about the plan to attack Vossoyedineniye Square and promised to mark the bombs.

The following day, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Talos tailed G'iah, who marked the bombs with infrared paint. The three of them followed the Skrull Resistance operatives who were carrying the bombs, however, they found out that Gravik anticipated their intereference and sent out decoys. Before Fury could confront Gravik, he detonated the bombs, which resulted in the massive casualties among the civilians, while Brogan in Martin Wallace's disguise made sure that Americans Against Russia were to blame. In a subsequent chaos, Gravik disguised himself as Fury and gunned Hill down, leaving her to die in the real Fury's arms.[1]
