The Grey Mountains (Ered Mithrin) were a large mountain range in the south of Middle-earth.
History[]
The Grey Mountains were created during the fall of the Two Lamps as one of seven mountain ranges created. It was the southern counterpart to the Blue Mountains of northern Middle-earth.
During the Battle of the Powers, the Grey Mountains were shortened, and now reached northwards to the Straits of the World.
Little is known about them after this war, but it is assumed that they remained unchanged through the War of the Ring and beyond.
