1/2 star deduction each for both of Maren Morris’ songs…might just be her voice or the vapidity and lazy nature of the songwriting but wtf that was grating and diabolical!

only slightly kidding about that being the only thing i didn’t like about The Wild Robot, because i did notice plenty of plot holes and an all-around overly simplistic way of looking at life, but i still enjoyed it for what it is — a harmless and necessary story for all viewers, young and old. the only thing is that i think with time and future sequels, the creators of this universe can only expand on these characters more and really drive home their friendships and explore even more of what society has to offer, which can definitely help in making each new end product better than the former à la Toy Story (except 4).

voice acting (well, and animation in general, too) deserves way more respect. i don’t think we realize how difficult it truly is to reach the heights that both lupita & kit reached with these lead performances. if it were live-action (maybe just as a human mom and adopted son duo), we would be singing their praises. so exceptional!
