The Wild Robot is a major improvement for Dreamworks since they've been on a mediocre streak after Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. While the story has elements that feel extremely familiar, I sort of forgave that due to how heartwarming and emotional the themes were, and i actually almost teared up at a couple of scenes. The animation is very stunning to look at, the voice casting is excellent, and the music was sweeping to listen to. I see this as a very good contender for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars.
Also, I tried 4DX for the first time with this movie! The motion chairs were very jerky, especially when the film has a character tumbling down the mountains. I also got a little splashed by the water effects and it’s always scary whenever air shoots out from behind. But i really never found the format distracting, i found it really cool. Might do it again sometime.
