Looks like Inside Out 2 got some competition after all.

Let’s Unpack Here:

- Picture WALL•E meets Open Season, with The Ugly Duckling sprinkled in the narrative.

- The setting itself was so interesting because it’s like part post-apocalyptic dome society, part natural oasis. The conflict of technology vs. wilderness is on full display here and neither can truly coexist without destruction of one or the other. If you pay closer attention to the third act, you’ll catch it, trust me.

- DreamWorks really knows how to do it best, I thought Puss in Boots: The Last Wish had beautiful animation, but this movie took that style and ran with it to a different level; it was bright and vibrant, it made me feel good.

- The voice cast was phenomenal, from Lupita Nyong'o to Ving Rhames to Catherine O’Hara to Mark Hamill, but Pedro Pascal was definitely a standout.

- The humor was what made it more interesting for me because there’s some stuff in there that adults will understand more so than the kids will, which makes it a great theatrical experience for the whole family.

- I would say a small issue I had was how I thought it was going to end, upon realizing there was still like 20-30 minutes left. I figured if it was cut short, I would’ve felt disappointed, but more emotionally invested, if that makes sense? However, I’m glad it kept going because a lot of animated movies are short anyway/feel incomplete.

All in all, I really liked it and I hope y’all will too.
