Feels like I'm watching a soap opera for dads while high on crack. As interesting as the subject matter might be and as technically proficient as the whole film is, Nolan doesn't seem interested telling it in a way that doesn't feel like I'm scrolling a TikTok feed. Overly long, as all movies are today, that as a result has a bunch of bloat and needless exposition giving tiny glimpses into bits of the story that really don't matter, with new characters popping in and out every two minutes. The middle with the atomic bomb going off is the actual meat and potatoes of the whole thing and the rest I'd consider filler. Particularly the third act with the clearance hearings. This might be the most low stakes dramatization of anything ever. Dude it's a fucking security clearance, go do something else! Someone should make a biopic of me washing my hands. Perhaps the scariest thing about this is the amount of resources that went into outing some commies. They could put that budget to making another 10 bombs to turns some foreign children into radioactive potting soil. Anyhoo it's alright. As with most of Nolans shit the massive budget of a small country really helps elevate the not so great script.
