Cillian Murphy is fantastic as J. Robert Oppenheimer "the father of the atomic bomb". He is a theoretical physicist who is considered a natural genius for his abilities even though he wasn't technically good at school. Before long he is a sought after commodity, and he's building the first nuke for the Manhattan Project. It deals with what lead up to this project, and the moral struggles they faced in the creation of this beast. Also the urgency of it's creation with the ongoing arms race and the danger of testing. It's all very dramatic, and fast-paced even though it sure is a long one. The performances are excellent, couldn't ask for better, and expertly filmed with loads of Christopher Nolan style. It's easy to see why this is nominated for basically everything. Certainly one of the best of 2023.
