Into the Spider-Verse remains one of the best films I have seen. I tear up each time I watch it. I didn't anticipate it having that impact when I watched it the first time. I wasn't expecting to watch it all.
While I highly doubt Miles Morales shows up in the No Way Home, it is our first film to handle multiverse crossovers. So it's worth my time to revisit.
As a stand-alone film, it handles multiple character introductions, especially when those characters share similar attributes.
It also does a great job showcasing multiple Spider-Man villains. Each one has enough screen time to display their skillsets on screen. I noticed that we met Doctor Olivia Octavius in one of Mile's classes for the first time. She is in a video his teacher presents to the class. Her name is obscured just enough for you not to make the connection to the villainous character, especially since there is a gender switch.
What I love most about this film is the soundtrack, the animation, and the editing. All of the song choices work. I hope Sony doesn't overthink things with the sequel and start meddling with the sound dynamic.
I didn't remember watching it before that we see Sony establishing the sequel while ending the film and in the final closing credits scene. After watching the trailer for the next movie earlier this week, I see now the trailer picks up immediately with the final scene and bridges the closing credit scene together. I hope Sony can maintain the momentum.
