Memoir of a Snail 2024

We have been absolutely FED with animated films this year. One of the best of the year and I am wrecked writing this through my tears. Normally, I’d say this much narration and voice over would be a cop out but the way that Sarah Snook delivers such an emotionally raw performance while still balancing some comedy really fits the entire aesthetic.

Angelina Jolie is magnetic and unbelievable in Pablo Larraín’s most recent biopic of famous and tortured women. The wonders of being on ludes, beautiful, skinny, talented, and delusional. The singing is stunning, for Angelina Jolie to train to sing like THIS but also not be annoying about it at the same way?! For that alone, she deserves an Oscar.

I Saw the TV Glow 2024

I really appreciated the themes and the concept of the film and I can admit there are some really powerful segments of dialogue but overall, I was not as high on the execution as most.
Unfortunately, I missed this one while it was in theatres so perhaps my home viewing skewed it for me but I did find myself checking the run time on it multiple times. The slower pacing in the beginning led my mind to wander and didn’t allow for me to be fully invested in the rest of the film. However, the ending is great, incredibly powerful.

I hadn’t heard of To Leslie until 5 days ago when every actor in Hollywood not up for awards this year told me to go watch it.
