“Something is seriously wrong… I didn’t get my way.”
So I had no plans to see this movie however my mom and younger sister wanted to see this today so one thing leads to another and here I am giving my thoughts on this. To clarify I’m not a musical guy however I did see the Broadway show a few years ago (but barely remember any of it) and overall I didn’t really like this.
I don’t know I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Cause I seem to be the only one to not have liked this that I’ve seen so far at least. The first two acts felt drawn out and aimless for the most part like a Universal exec decided to split this into two parts in the middle of production so as a result half the runtime had to be padded out with musical scenes and then once the third act hits this movie finally kind of gets going but by then it was too late for me and I really don’t have any interest in Part 2 next year to be honest. (Also did not know Jeff Goldblum was in this that was a nice suprise.) For the positives Jonathan Bailey is good with the screen time he does have and Ariana Grande is legitimately good here to my surprise. I was doubtful of her acting skills before going into this, but I apologize I wasn’t familiar with her game. She was my favorite part of this. I’m sure she’s going to get a ton more acting offers after this. Although everything else can’t say I was a fan. Was just kind of eye rolling through everything else. Not saying this is a bad movie if you enjoyed this good for you it’s just not the movie for me, but I already knew I likely wouldn’t walk out loving this.
Yes if you weren’t aware this is a Part 1 even though it’s not marketed as one which might be my least favorite trend for movies right now. Also I got trailers for Snow White and Minecraft before this and damn they both look terrible not even gonna sugarcoat it.
