I find it funny how this movie (one of the best Marvel movies) and Daredevil ‘03 (one of the worst Marvel movies) both have Kingpin as their villain.
I know I just gave the Venom movies 10/10 scores but this time the 10/10 score isn’t ironic. This movie is still jaw-droppingly beautiful. From a visual and emotional perspective. Six years later and I’m still shocked from how perfect this superhero movie is. It’s everything a comic book movie should be and a great example as to why animation is the perfect medium for these superhero’s to be adapted into. As big as this movie was and still is, I’m still shocked we haven’t gotten more comic book films that are animated. I mean can you imagine how good a Doctor Strange or Batman movie could be in this style? And God, I’m still surprised how much this movie is able to make me laugh and how much legitimately effective emotional bits are in this. I can’t imagine hating this movie. This movie is just amalgamation of everything Spider-Man has been over the past decades. It takes every superhero movie from the past into account to learn from the highs and peaks of the genre. Cannot believe Black Panther (2018) got nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars but this one went mostly ignored in all categories. Easily one of, if not the best, superhero films ever made. And I kind of regret watching it this early into the Marvel watch through. That’s right. We easily still got a good 40+ films to get through. Wish me luck.
