The Deputy Headmaster or Deputy Headmistress was a title given to the faculty member at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry whose job it was to assist the Headmaster or Headmistress of the day with the administrative running of the school in addition to their duties as teachers.[1]
Duties[]
Among the tasks entrusted to the Deputy Headmaster was sending a letter of acceptance to incoming along with a list of school supplies approved and signed by the Chief Attendant of Witchcraft Provisions.[1]
In the event that the incumbent Headmaster or Headmistress died, became incapacitated, was suspended, or was sacked, the Deputy Headmaster or Headmistress would typically serve as acting head of the school until the Hogwarts Board of Governors or the Ministry of Magic could appoint a new, permanent one.[2]
