The Norm Company Territoryノルム (しょう) (かい) (りょう) Norumu Shōkai-ryō? is a region situated in the Northern Plateau.

Overview[]

Like the rest of the Northern Plateau, the Norm Company Territory is a barren land. The region features both trees and hills, with a main road leading to the fortified city that houses the Norm Company Estate.

Norm Company Estate[]

Main article: Norm Company

The Norm Company Estate is located in the center of an impressively fortified town. It serves as the headquarters of the Norm Company, which operates an armed distribution network for settlements throughout the Northern Plateau. The estate also houses a mining branch responsible for extracting resources in the area, as well as a military division known as the Chivalric Order of Norm, which has a wide reach across the Northern Plateau.

Synopsis[]

History[]

During the war against the Demon King, Lord Norm founded the Norm Company and its territory after being driven into the Northern Plateau. He invested in the barren land to establish a distribution network. At one point, the Hero Party passed through the territory and met Lord Norm, who provided them with funds in the form of loans.[1]

Continued Northern Travels Arc[]

Thirty years after Himmel the Hero's passing, Frieren's Party camps in the Norm Company Territory. While eating hard bread, Stark complains about the food, and Frieren explains that the barren Northern Plateau limits their options. They eventually reach a fortified town owned by the Norm Company, which controls supply distribution across the Northern Plateau. Although Frieren notes that things may have changed since her last visit, leading to a potentially weakened Norm Company, she warns Stark and Fern that it likely still remains influential and advises them not to cause trouble.

Upon entering the town, they meet President Norm, who demands repayment of Frieren's debt from 80 years ago. Norm insists that Frieren's verbal agreement is not binding, and her offered funds are insufficient. Consequently, Frieren is sent to the mines to work for 300 years to pay off her debt, leaving Stark and Fern confused about how to rescue her.

Stark and Fern then approach Norm in the estate to ask why Frieren was sent to the mines. Norm informs them that her debt has accrued to over 500 Strahl gold coins, leaving Fern and Stark without any hope of buying Frieren back. They begin discussing a plan to rescue her by raiding the mine.

Later, Norm meets with Frieren in the mines to discuss her assistance in rebuilding the company's distribution network, which has been devastated by demon activity. Recognizing the importance of her help for the people of the Northern Plateau and her desire to repay Lord Norm's kindness, she agrees to locate silver ore in the mines.

As night falls and Frieren sits in the mines, the miners inform her that the president has informed them of the plan. In response, Frieren casts a spell to locate silver ore. Successfully identifying a rich vein, she is able to reclaim her belongings the next morning and returns to Fern and Stark. As they leave the Norm Company Territory, she excitedly informs them that they will now be able to enjoy soft bread, leaving Stark confused.
