Overview[]
The Great Sanft Forest is located in the Northern Lands. It is a heavily forested area with a small river flowing through it. The main road in the region splits at a fork, leading to Neutral Harbor and the Northern Plateau. There is an inn near the fork where travelers can rest.

Twenty-nine years after the death of Himmel the Hero, Stark returns to the campsite of Frieren's Party, hoping his foraged food is enough for lunch. However, he finds that both Fern and Frieren are missing, so he decides to catch some big fish. Meanwhile, Fern and Frieren are bathing and cleaning their belongings in a river. Stark eventually finds them there while on his way to fish.
Shortly thereafter, the group continues their journey and arrives at a fork where one path leads to Neutral Harbor and the other to the Northern Plateau. Nearby, they find an inn where they decide to rest. While there, they reunite with Wirbel, Ehre, and Scharf. After a brief exchange, Wirbel asks Frieren if he can try to convince Stark to temporarily join them in their fight against demons on the Northern Frontier. Although Fern is reluctant, Frieren agrees to let Wirbel proceed.
Later, Fern talks with Stark, who reveals that he turned down Wirbel's request. He confesses that when Fern and Frieren first met him near Riegel Canyon, he was at his breaking point and considered abandoning the village. He shares that Fern’s encouragement that night motivated him to stay and asks her to be nicer to him.
The next day, Frieren and her party bid farewell to Wirbel and his group as both continue on their respective journeys—Wirbel and his team heading to Neutral Harbor to reach the Imperial Capital,[1][note 1] while Frieren and her party continue on their way to the Northern Plateau.

- ↑ In the official English localization of Chapter 62, Wirbel states that his party is traveling to the port town in the Royal Capital. However, in the original Japanese text, Wirbel states that they are traveling to the port town in the Imperial Capital, which uses the kanji ｢
帝 都 Teito?｣, and not the Royal Capital, which uses the kanji ｢王 都 Ōto?｣.
